Traveler, have you listened to SU's performance. They sound horrible too. If you have a microphone close to an instrument, of course you're going to hear that instrument over the rest of the band. And futhermore, I was talking about the loudness of the band, not the sound.

Let's all stop hating and give props when they deserve it. Grambling has always had a good sound. People are always saying that SU plays louder. Well, if you 90% brass, you would play louder also. Remember, brass is a strong sound.

In all fairness to GSU, NBC's coverage had TERRIBLE audio of their performance. You could get better sound just recording it from a video phone. SU sounded pretty bad on TV as well. Trust me, it's all NBC, not Southern or Grambling.

NBC had the field miked up high and it exposed individual players every now and then, which made seem like every member in each was taking a solo cause it would stick over the band because of the mikes. NBC shouldn't have had the field miked they should have had the mikes so hot
