Dahmer should be neither be portrayed as more sympathetic or more monstrous than he actually was. The stark reality of the situation was horrific and sad, and more than capable of generating in an audience both rage at his crimes and empathy for his dysfunctionality without unnecessary embellishment

There are many things are wrong with this film. Dahmer never took on someone without first drugging them to make them submissive. And from the records he never did anything with them alive. His method was simple, he made a solicitation, drugged them, strangled them, and dismembered them and later started eating their flesh. Yeah, this movie sucks, others I've seen have been worse than this one and there really is no way to film what he really did, just too horrifying.

On the "did Jeff enjoy killing" note, here is my two cents. I am no expert by any means but I have a theory: According to Freud psychology, violence and sexual urges seem to be linked somewhat. As a teen, you "un link" them. Perhaps Dahmer never did this. He never realy explored his sexuality in the first place. Violence and sex went hand n hand with him.

You are basing a lot on the information that Dahmer told, and so do the doctors that examine him after he was caught.

Im not saying that its POSSIBLE that he didnt enjoy the killings. What im saying is that its IMPOSSIBLE 2 know truly every nook and cranny of this case because NOBODY can truly know what Dahmers feelings were but Dahmer.

Its funny how you and supposed 'experts" put so much creedence into what Dahmer says in terms of not enjoying killing.

I can find statements from his own lips where he talked about his fascination of violence, and how it intermingled with his sexuality as a child.

Bottom line is regardless of what you say, the supposed psychoanalyzation of Dahmer is based almost entirely upon his words, and with that comes a margin for error, because you cant make a person be honest about what they say.

Of course, youre basing your information from what Dahmer said after he was caught, which could be total bullshit.

Fact is that nobody was there when he killed but the victims and himself, and he very well COULD have enjoyed killing these people. Almost all serial killers do.

To just take his word on what or why he did anything, is iffy at best. He could say anything he wanted to and theres no victims around to refute his claims.

This movie is so inaccurate. I understand trying to potray Dahmer as a monster, but what is shown in this film is factually incorrect. Non of his victims were alive before they were dismembered. The were drugged, or labotamized and unconscious before he strangled them. Others died during the labotomy process, but were later dismembered. And he did not contact any victims family telling them he killed them. Was he nuts? Yes! Was he the monster as potrayed in this film? No. It's garbage

Dahmer in real life was sadistic, there are just different forms of being sadistic, Sadists don't mind pain inflicted onto others, they enjoy it either mentally, or emotionally. Dahmer wasn't always a sadist when killing, he felt remorse he had to take another's life away just to keep them with him forever. Dahmer was part monster for his crimes, part humanitarian for wanting friends to keep him company. He knew to value life temporarily, also how to destroy it too at the same time.
