I don't know whether M. Night intended it to be a black comedy thing, or it became unintentionly funny or what, over all, it wasn't that bad. Sure, so many things could've been better, but... nope, that's all I can say. And people tend to forget that plants have done this kind of thing before, because Oxygen was originally produced as a poison millions of years ago, but now, we thrive on it. Yeah, the idea of it is ridiculous, but, sometimes, you need to get past it to really enjoy it.. ... :)
The acting was awful because the dialog was awful. Forced awkward situations, bland back and forth banter about...well that's the thing, it isn't about anything. I think 15 year old Twilight readers produced the script for this movie. "It's not what they're saying, it's what they AREN'T saying -sigh-" BOOOO!!!

The worst thing about this was "nice-guy" Marky Mark. Y'know what I mean, when his voice raises about two octaves and everything he says sounds condescending. His bad enough when he's just acting, but when he plays somebody that's not supposed to be "badass" it's unbearable. Plus, like he said, the dialogue is so cheesey, the story is so lame, that it's pretty much a parody of itself. Shymalan just needs to hang it up.

That being said, there are some really good movies out there that weren't seen by big audiences. For me this movie is about fear, fear for the unknown. This movie... it was just so wierd, I mean the concept was really really good, but the acting was bad. Like, really really really bad... The dialogue and character development was awful as all hell. @28145Greenlantern The people kill themselves, because all the plant life in the world releases messed up shit into the air. Nothing much happens in the movie after the middle section. It's mostly pointless ramblings and people being dumb asses. Oh, and Mark Wahlberg whines like a bitch through the whole movie. His wife (Zooey Deschanel) has more balls than him.

I'm no Shyamalan fan, but this film is TRUE shit. This guy is being far too nice about it...NOTHING works in this film, except the opening 5 mins.....everything is badly shot, condescending to the audience, and the performances are more plastic than the plant Mark Wahlberg talks to (seriously!)
