the SKS was made by several countries. i have owned copies from albania, russia, china,(both standard, and "D" model that takes AK magazines) yugoslavia. wikipedia lists german, north korean, and vietnamese models as well.
Nice but I don't think that is such a great idea with an SKS. AK-47 of course because of the sheet metal but SKS are specifically designed for Semi-Automatic and the good ones are milled. Still that gun give you enough bacon for a while :)

[i.e. short shotguns, rifles, sound suppressors, pre-1986 full-auto firearms]. Take a look at impactgunsdotcom and click around their class 3 section.

@CharlieDoan let me tell you something about hog hunting. In the state of Texas you can kill a hog with any means necessary short of poisoning. I think you are ridiculous. AR15, AK 47's, and SKS' are used to kill hogs in Texas more than any other guns. You can use a 22 if you want...although it is illegal for deer you may use it for a hog...and as far as your preference for a 308...I have one of those also. Maybe you should look at the Texas Parks and Wildlife guidelines in the future.
@pigslayer08 7.62x39 for 0-300 meters MAX. Far over that distances are no good the bullet drop down around 6 inches from what you aim. Used .308 (7.62x51) more flatter and even more powerful. Ak-47 or M-16 are designed to kill man, not hogs or elephant or lion...Use bigger rounds for stronger wild animals and do not take a chance to get kill, specially Wild hog. SKS aim and pull the trigger , hogs still moving still shooting. Wound hogs are super dangerous! do not use bolt action, too slow!

I shoot SKS the most my life, I am from VN. In Vietnam VC don't call SKS, but they called CKC rifle. Many cases VC shoot to their comrades. They went to look for big fish (their military must look for food by themselve) and not rich like US military that sit their and wait for helicopter bring food and water. For US 1 guy fight then 3 guys for food, medications, scout and many more stuffs just help him, not VC.

Man with all due respect to you and your SKS, that was not full auto at all. And using a fully automatic weapon to hog hunt isn't a very good idea, due to lack of control of the gun with recoil and smoke, etc. Full autos really aren't very accurate while trying to hit one point- they're better when you try to hit a certain area with an "x and y" radius.

[i.e. short shotguns, rifles, sound suppressors, pre-1986 full-auto firearms]. Take a look at impactgunsdotcom and click around their class 3 section.

.40 cal, .45 and 9mm and had 6 wounded sitting on the gound (from an AK. 30rds stopped 6. In 2sec) and shot each one in the head with the whole clip from each pistol and pigs were still alive. Pigs are tough. I've seen 300 pounders take one shot and I've also shot at packs of pigs at literally 20yds with 30rds of AR15 and not gotten a single one. Pigs don't charge either. Only if u pick up a piglet and squeeze it the mother will come charging and get wasted

AR15, AK 47's, and SKS' are used to kill hogs in Texas more than any other guns. You can use a 22 if you want...although it is illegal for deer you may use it for a hog...and as far as your preference for a 308...I have one of those also. Maybe you should look at the Texas Parks and Wildlife guidelines in the future.

Ak-47 or M-16 are designed to kill man, not hogs or elephant or lion...Use bigger rounds for stronger wild animals and do not take a chance to get kill, specially Wild hog. SKS aim and pull the trigger , hogs still moving still shooting. Wound hogs are super dangerous! do not use bolt action, too slow!

The only time the FBI comes into play is a FBI back round check to see if you wanted a felon had a dishonorable discharge from the military ect ect. - To apply for permit, FBI will check your record (for sure my friend) do not say without checking the law OK! and in the application 1 per gun ( for each Serial#) There is a question that "What is the good reason to have automatic?" 20 years ago is very easy to get permit but seem to be after 9-11 FBI checked and gave permit VERY CAREFULLY. I am from Arizona.

@CharlieDoan i am from the great state of Tennessee and i have been buying guns since i was 18 .i have made it a point to know the laws and not just start spouting off things that i think may be right or what i saw on t.v..there is no question asking you for a good reason to have an automatic they ask why do you want this item,for my silencer i put to protect the environment from noise pollution.with your vast knowledge of the laws you are better suited to live in California

@CharlieDoan i haven't bought any automatic guns ,i did buy a AAC Evolution 9 suppressor ,same exact process$200 one time tax stamp no permit ,i know people that have machine guns and have yet to find one that has a permit,i can even go to my range and rent them and if you ask them about a permit they wont let you rent them because they will then know your a nut case

Man with all due respect to you and your SKS, that was not full auto at all. And using a fully automatic weapon to hog hunt isn't a very good idea, due to lack of control of the gun with recoil and smoke, etc. Full autos really aren't very accurate while trying to hit one point- they're better when you try to hit a certain area with an "x and y" radius.
