Changes take time, especially with such a large country and over 50 ethnic dialects, not to mention how they managed to still stay together for 5000 years, and making huge progresses in all industries as one nation, no any other countries in the world has been able to do so, it's a country deserves to be cherished more than criticised unthoughtfully, like many do here on youtube.

... so tell me what your documentaries tell you! i dont refer to the news but far more to channels like the ones you mentioned showin me that chinas poluted air is 4 times worse than allowed for olympic games, that poor workers (chinese guys) get exploited or for example die under a collapsing bridge when they were building it for 5€/day, that people die from food or get sick from toys (i got from news but tell me if this aint true) and what sucks most is their way of interpreting patents ...

I agree with everything you said. But the fact is, China will soon be the #1 economic and military ( though not political) power , and so the rest of the world must be careful to engage with China, not isolate it. ie "Keep your friends close, your enemies closer".
Also, lots of Chinese people are not at all like their government... like how not all Americans are like George W. Bush!!!

Please be aware the difference between chinese people and the government. Our people did nothing harmful to people in other countries. Many of us even tolerated Japanese right-wingers's enormity in China in WW2, without receving a official apology. I do not blame ordinary Japanese people for what their government did in the war. The vast majority of us are friendly and sincere, we do welcome all of you guys to enjoy in he forthcoming 2008 Beijing Olympics.

has anyone wondered why the Chinese people don't complain about the government? because they are satisfied. yes, the communists might limit some freedoms but they also improve the standards of living so much more in other ways. that's the truth, the lives of people in China have gotten BETTER since 1949. it's always the people who have never been to the country that feel the need to complain :/

I'm very much in agreement with you apeppler. Changes take time, especially with such a large country and over 50 ethnic dialects, not to mention how they managed to still stay together for 5000 years, and making huge progresses in all industries as one nation, no any other countries in the world has been able to do so, it's a country deserves to be cherished more than criticised unthoughtfully, like many do here on youtube.
