@wolftigerrosebud I respect the thoughtful comparison to the Funk Brothers. But to be fair, the DK's have been working together as a unit for a good stretch. The Funk Brothers also did, but had 15 more years together by the time they were recording hits like the DK's are now. You gotta let these guys grow a little.You can tell they're a BAND man. Let it grow. They've only been in the spotlight for a little while compared to the Funk Bros. (Early Motown was NOT as great as mid sixties motown!)

Someone who sings beautifully, nice tunes, but makes music that makes sense. A lot of Adele's music the lyrics don't make sense, they just sound good together. Listening to Sharon is like reading a novel.

Sharon's band sounds more like the Stax house band than Motown's Funk Brothers...less polished...more of a rough Southern Soul sound. That's not a bad thing. Back in the day we had a variety of sounds. Sly & the Family Stone sounded rough too, especially live. But that was the good thing about music then...everyone had their own sound and style, rather than copying someone else.
