SDU is merely a specialized police force. The only reason they ranked 3rd in the world is because it was trained by the SAS and currently using the SAS training system. If you are training with the best of the world, it is safer to say that they are better. But it can never be compared with the SAS, US Navy Seal or any other special forces in the world. Why don't they use QBZ95/97? Those are mean weapons, I personally own a civilian version of QBZ97, and it's powerful in both long range and CQB. Beside, their boss, Chi-Commies will give them those weapons FREE, they don't need to waste Hong Kong taxpayer's money to buy HK weapons. I bet that QBZ56 in the show is donated by PLA. =)

儘管飛虎隊在大銀幕上非常活躍, 不過印象中香港並未發生過特別嚴重的恐怖主義或大規模有組織犯罪­的相關事件, 所以處理危機的真正實力如何很難判定. 西方幾個著名的警部特種部隊有許多成員都是退役的軍人, 具備先天的作戰經驗和能力; 香港警察恐怕就沒有這種優勢. 不過從這個影片看起來至少有後天充分的準備. 希望他們能百尺竿頭, 更進一步. :)

According to the official data provided by the HKPF, there have only been around 15 cases of robberies involving firearms in the past decade. The bulk of crimes in Hong Kong comprise thefts, assaults and triad activities - regular backstreet boy actions that likely won't require SDU deployment. That's why, imo, the major player of the HK law-enforcement scene is the OCTB.
