When asked if he would bring Khan back for a sequel to his Star Trek relaunch, JJ Abrams declared it to be "definitely possible," and explained that because they have rewritten so much of the Star Trek storyline, that therefore Khan is "still out there" even if he's not completely the same, and added that "certain people are destined to cross paths." But who could play Khan the way Ricardo did?
@dkupke I'm a nerd, sir, so I've spent like six hours thinking about this. I can't think of anybody can chew scenery as thoroughly and awesomely as Montalban and Shatner. Watching them try to out ham each other was like the best part of the movie, and I seriously doubt anybody but those two could pull it off. That being said, I think I'd like to see how Alan Rickman would play Kahn.
@thespecialneedsgroup True, no one will ever play Kirk and Khan the way Ricardo and Shatner did. Still, it would be awesome to see the Khan mythos added to. Even outside of Star Trek, he is one of the greatest villains in cinema history.
@thespecialneedsgroup Rickman is actually a decent choice, but I think he s a bit long in the tooth. Abrams relaunch of the series portrays all the key characters as considerably younger than they were when the original series aired, so I would imagine Khan would have to be younger as well.
@thespecialneedsgroup Alan Rickman would have been a good Khan 15-20 years ago but with the new young cast they'll probably be looking for a younger Khan (I am not saying Alan Rickman couldn't do it, he plays great bad guys).... I'm sure J.J. Abrams will find someone perfect for the role regardless.
@Tedericoe Pulleeeezzz lol Please It is Good in your universe in my universe it sucked Vulcan and Romulus destroyed Scott is Plumber Kirk is Drunk Spock is Lover and his mother died PIKE?!!!!
Hmmm khan is reborn as a Q like being his spirit having incubated in the strange energy anomalies caused by the genesis device. To overcome the limitations of the genesis device found in star trek 3 he now has to consume life force to maintain his being.
It was only the fact of my genetically engineered intellect that allowed us to survive! - Glad he threw that one in just to let us know in his humble opinion how events unfolded!
you missed a great one when lord khan first attacked the enterprised: i deprived your ship of power and when i swing around i intend to deprive you of your life.
@carch117 I think it shows how good an actor he really is. I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Montalban considered this role to be very important. I remember watching a documentary called "The Bronze Screen" about the history and struggles of Latin American actors in the American film industry and how they had to fight typecasting, and Mr. Montalban was one of the main actors interviewed and asked to tell his story. Playing Khan and being famous for it must have been a relief and an achievement.
He forgot one of the most important quotes. He Tasks me!

Only Hans from the original Die Hard, Darth Vader, and perhaps a couple of others deserve to be in the ranks of great characters like Khan.

Montalban is awesome. hard to believe the guy is 87 years old and won't be around forever
only thing this needed was his "He tasks me" speech
