Anyway, yes I have one and everyone in Colorado Springs, CO, knows about them, they're just not as popular. I am pretty good at the tricks myself and they can be really challenging, but fun. The generic name for this device is a Sling Ring. Your particular model is a not so playable "toy" version. The better type of ring is made only of metal, usually brass beads (washers) and a stainless steel ring.

There are many many tricks possible with a better style of ring. It is too bad that yours isn't all that usable...sorry.
