Great post coaches, I once took advice from a personal trainer at a local gym to not eat carbs before training, his advice was eat protein all day then train and then eat carbs, after a week i had nothing left in the tank and my body was shutting down slowly with my performance also dropping.
@iecastro13 Its not about good/bad, right/wrong. Its about application and context. Who is eating a certain way and why and to what desired effect. We need to stop thinking in simple recipes that slot people into a diet, when the real expertise is about making the diet fit the person.
Hey Scott, totally agree here. Myself like Kevin have had succes with both the high fat and high carb. The fat gives me more saiety and can space meals further apart, joints feel better, skin even looks better lol. Def keep the spikes and or carb refeeds in, and cheat days accordingly, depending on internal cues and appearance and gym performance. Biofeed back is vital. I feel I tread a fine line on the high fat path, I keep under10% yr round and have gainedup to 16lbs on cheat days.
Coach since you reference prof athletes like football players in this who on their rest days eat massive quantities of food to restore their glycogen, and if you agree with the association that these athletes (esp the off/def linemen) are at higher risks to die from heart attacks, strokes, etc (which i've got the impression from the media), isn't that indirectly saying that even if you're an elite athlete, you won't escape from metabolizing junk if you eat it. How do I supercomp heathily?
@elhnad No mate, not at all. there are many other factors involved in the future health risks of these kinds of "collision-based" athletics. Food is a mere minor component
I really like the bravery of these guys ! Going against the business is not for weaklings ! You go guys !
