Thees just been a case where they have found a mummified cat thats been dead for 56 years in New Zealand. They believed the cat crawled into a wall space in the house in Tauranga as it was being built in 1955. The cat starved to death and died, but its body was preserved in the dry conditions.

This just creates a harried state in the public. There's no reason to post this garbage. The fact that the cat is mummified is really terrible, but put the information in a report for review. The only purpose this serves is to inflame the public, which ultimately hurts the animals. So good job. I find that pretty disgusting.

@cphunk Agreed ,yes this is terrible but it might also drive people away from adopting animals that need homes. Everyone is jumping on the bandwagon they are doing it to the Hamilton SPCA and I volunteered with them for 12 years and will continue to do so for the animals. I forget about the politics and concentrate on the animals only. I have been the the THS as well a number of times,mind you it was way before they had the trouble but the animals looked healthy ect

I remember a few drivers also when they came to pick up stray animals off of me over the years would smell so bad of booze on them.

It worried me that stray animals were in the back of those vans with these drivers drinking behind the wheel.

The essence of a shelter is to humanely house, care for, and adopt out society's abandoned animals.

It is disturbing, but not unheard of, when a shelter miserably fails the animals they should be protecting.

I've often wondered. I have a hard time stepping into an animal shelter as I'm effected deeply. But what about those that work there. I would think most are draw working there out of genuine desire to help. But if they care about this animals that much, how in the world can they stand seeing these animals day in and day out without snapping?

Well, this year's donation is the last time I give a single cent to the Humane Society.

I will care for local feral or stray cats on my own ... at least I will know that they aren't being killed by people that are supposed to be caring for them.

This whole thing just breaks my heart. The THS has been around for so many years, and helped so many animals....it is the current management that is the problem (esp. president Tim Trow), not the actual institution. That is why so many long time employees, including vets, and volunteers quit and became whistle blowers. Now that these guys are arrested hopefully some major changes will take place.
