Now, the rest of the world is catching up with those skills and was able to demand lesser wages for these jobs. When asked why Apple doesn't offshore software, Steve Jobs replied "That would be shortsighted - take care of your top line first - your people and your products and the bottom line will take care of itself". The real problem is companies in the U.S. dont want to invest in the workforce, even though our education system still does most of the work to getting people through the K-12. NAFTA & other FTAs made the pull to outsource/offshore more alluring, especially when the countries where these jobs are going have no Unions, no OSHA, no worker's comp, no regulations to protect workers from harm in the workplace.

So U.S. companies WILL NOT TRAIN their American workers...not at all.

The H-1B work visa is fundamentally about cheap labor. Vivek addresses many important issues however there is a glaring lack of scrutiny to the impact on the American workers displaced here by foreign workers coming to the USA.

An analogy would be the flood of illegals coming from Mexico. One could argue that 7-10 million jobs were created.

You might consider this a positive development if you do not consider the displacement and infrastructure burdens.
