i'm now 15 and I live in Kralingen, across from the Kralingse plas, where this festival was ...sometimes I see pictures of Stamping Ground and it makes me so freaking sad that I wasn't there...
Excuse me, somebody knows if there is a rare footage or early appearances of Al Stewart before his Year of the Cat era? yes, besides this one of course...
By the way, when he sings "But his eyes are the eyes of an eagle" it sounds a bit like "Somewhere In England, 1915" from his Beach Full of Shells album.
This fest was the actual beginning of official Dutch 'gedoogbeleid'( tolerance policy) concerning the possession/dealing of/in soft drugs. The undercover cops made a kind of study of it, right there and then.
My dad was there the greatest festival at the continent from that time, it costed 40 gulden (18 dollar) but like woodstock thousands of people just broke through the fance witch causted a 1.000.000 gulden debt i have spoken with the organiser of this festival he live s in my street kralingen, rotterdam i m 15 years old and i really wish i was there at kralingen popfestival or monterey pop or woodstock
Hey daytripper, the (3-day!) tickets were 35 guilders, not 40 (I still got the ticket to prove it). Btw, funny you mention your age, 'cos I was 15 when I was there!
i dont know for shure but i really thougth it was 40 well it s not that important but there s a museum of kralingen popfestival !!! i don t know where youre from but its free and its located in kralingen the founder of the festival witch i mentiond before is the boss of it all i really recomend it to you it s not a big museum but still a good one i really wish i could say what you said it must have been quite an experience
I too was 15 and still have the ticket, 35 guilders indeed. I told my parents I was going to stay with a girlfriend, as she told hers she stayed with me. No need to tell our parents found out and we got grounded when we got back home after 3 hazy happy swinging days, but hey, that was worth it. These happy memories stay with you the rest of your life.
The most common nickname is Kralingen, but officially it was called the Holland Pop Festival. And bhodybored, its Holland's most legendary pop/rock festival (although not the first).

An amazing performance from Santana, every bit as good as their Woodstock set (if not better).
