Could you imagine a Mech game played like WoW. Everyone has their own design, interacting w/ other players, having battle quests, PvP etc. I would quit playing WoW in a second. Someone sell this idea to Blizzard or their competition.
If anybody knows of a game like that, let me know!
I am a huge Mechwarrior fan I was since I was 11 years old. Hell I got hooked when I 1st played as the MADCAT in mechwarrior 2, I even have the miniature for it :P
I rly hope this is not a BULLSHIT TEASER like with DukeNukem Forever. >.>
MW5 has been confirmed. The founders of FASA made a new gaming company after Microsoft shut FASA down, and they took the rights to MechWarrior and several other old FASA games, and now they're working on the new Mechwarrior game.
It's not going to be MechWarrior 5, but rather a complete re-launch. They decided they went as far as they could with MW4:M.
They did have some legal trouble with a japanese mech company over the likeness of one of the new mechs, but that's an easy fix.
The mech mentioned in the your comment is the 'Warhammer-C' that the pilot who we're looking though is in command of. Originally, it was a direct rip of one of the Robotech Destroids....
It is actuly Mad cat. Used to me Timberwold, freebirth, cut they changed it do to copyright isues. The copyright is now resolved and I hope they get the origanal name.
The Timberwolf design is not even involved in the copyright issues with Harmony Gold.
HG sought injunctive relief against FASA for 3 Inner Sphere Mechs appearing in the 3025 TRO: Marauder, Warhammer, Battlemaster. In response, FASA removed the 3 Mechs from the BattleTech canon. They then introduced the Clan OmniMechs, of which the Timberwolf is the best recognized. FASA's 3050 TRO lists this Omni under both its Clan name (Timberwolf) and Inner Sphere name (Madcat).
The music is awesome. Of course, I might be seeing it thru rose colored glasses - because I have been a huge Battletech fan since the 80s. This is the one series I thought was forever lost and the most underused video game potential (this and Star Trek - most Trek games suck).
My favorite"recent" Mech game was Mech 4 Mercenaries - overall its Mech 4 Mercs. Graphic wise, though, Mech 3. For music, original Mech 2 and Mech 2 Ghost Bears.
I liked Mechwarrior 3 for being the more close to the tabeltop, in terms of heat and damage, and well....you could step on the infantry, hehe. In terms of playability and enjoyment the Merc4 was the best, no doubt.
Mech Warrior 3 was the last great MW game. Mech Warrior 4 was a dumbed down arcade game. And if you watch these movies it appears that this will be more MW4 trash. Bring back salvage and zone damage. If I shoot an arm with an ammo store, act appropriately. If I wound a leg, I wanna see him drag it behind him. Coolant Flush, Smoke, Radiation Smoke, Standing in water for coolant, steam off of mechs, fighting in rain, I want a real world with real mechs not a dumbed down version.
and not this dumbed down version of the mech crit-slots. i am a hard core old school battletech nut. when i played MW4 i was absolutly HOSTILE.
now that micro$oft has given up the rights to it and one of the orgional creators is involved with the games development id say, good odds of a true to form MW game.
now if i can get my Maruader-3R
the mods that i would want
change the 2 ppc's for 2 lg. lasers, 2 tons heat sinks, 2 tons armor
The previous methods of slots were not true to the Battletech universe. Mechs simply are not built to have whatever thrown onto them. If there are not designated weapon slots, what is the point of having different mechs in the same tonnage? Why have a Atlas and a Daishi then? Having 20 medium lasers is fun but I'd rather be forced to adapt. The weapon layout from M4:Mercs was a lot of fun and forced you to change your tactics and weapon layout.
When I said "Arcade" I meant style, not platform. Arcadish games refer to games that have simple controls, easy to learn, simple gameplay, etc. A sim has complex controls, gameplay, usually a high learning curve, etc. MW4 wasn't really a sim like the previous games were. It had simplified mechanics, controls, and such. It wasn't as heavily based on the Battletech pen and paper game as the previous ones were.
I think a mech mmo is a great idea

The real MW4, wasn;t an arcade game. It was a PC game, and a damn good one!
