Aaron Spelling had a special EXPENSIVE water tank made for the car going underwater with Alexis in it, as he wanted the viewers to see her pounding on the windows trying to get out. Joan Collins refused to do, for fear she would get an ear infection. Spelling was P*SSED!!

This cliffhanger was awful. They brought Matthew back and he barely mentioned Claudia or Steven's affair with her (which is why he left in the first place). And to have him come back and not even mention Lindsay, who supposedly died with him, was dumb. The only good thing that came out of this was that Gerald the butler admitted his love for Lynette the maid (also forgotten). Still, it's sad that peripheral characeters had more of an impact at this point!

Matthew did mention Lindsay,when Krysytle ashed about her,he said they tried to save her but couldn't,hope this isn't lost in syndication.

This finale was so bad it smelled. Besides the worst dialogue in the history of the series and various editing problems..why do Blake and Krystle duck at 3:46? I'm betting another camera was shooting from that angle..so badly edited. And from the sound it is clear Mattew's men were "dubbed"..this was just awful.

I could not disagree with you more. Actually as a kid, I did not like Dynasty. Never watched it. I had enough on my plate with Dallas etc... But even I had to give to Dynasty for finales. They did it well.

I'm comparing it to past seasons...and this one is in NO way near thw quality of years past. John Forsythe literally looks bored..the quality of the filming and editing is shoddy. The show was gaining speed in its decline.

Good catch! It took me a couple of tries to see it but you are right! The editing was getting so poor by this point in the show. Leading up to the car going over behind Alexis is the same trees we saw the entire ride. At 3:46 Blake ducks down w/Krystle, I'm guessing there was another camera filming but not used in the edit. Mattew's henchmen are obviously w/dubbed voices as well as one says "move" to Blake and Krystle, which isn't what the track says. John looks bored..a sad fall of the show.

hom, I noticed another poor editing bit. When Alexis realizes she's going off the bridge in the car, she throws her arms up in her face, and when the car actually spills over, she tries to steer the car! Both reactions should have been reversed.

Then again...she is gripping the steering wheel when water splashes the windshield (car plunges into river). The writers should have had her swim away in an awesome underwater sequence and have her swim out to the ocean depths and join forces with the Sea Witch from "The Little Mermaid"! Then, Alexis can turn all the sea life against the Carringtons. The killer whales are already in their tuxedos to show up at the Carrington mansion!

Growing up, "Dynasty" was my show. I drew stick figure drawings of the show intending to be serious, but looking back and re-reading them, I cried laughing!! An "episode" consisted of an entire spiral notebook, and I made about 28 of them. You'd wet yourself reading them!!

I wish I could publish them, but I'll probably get sued. Thanks again.

@homeric9, Hi, homeric, have you been buying "Dynasty" on DVD? I'm happy I finally have The Moldavian Massacre 1984-1985 season cliffhanger. Although, I'm upset that it doesn't end like it does on the uncut YouTube version. The church bells still going over the closing credits is highly effective.

Yes, I've read that before, but I never see anyone standing on the bridge at 2:15. I've plaused and rewound it, but all I see is broken bridge debris.

The writers were so desperate for a good cliffhanger- why use the idea of a crashed wedding twice (right after the Moldavian Massacre)? And if you're gonna do something twice, the second time must be better than the first. AND, no matter how emotionally distraught she may be, Alexis would NEVER drive away in a 1965 Oldsmobile (maybe a Lincoln, but even that's a stretch).

Horrible cliffhanger! The show was good the first 4-5 years. But the last 3 years was so bad and had so stupid storylines! Swedish television stopped showing DYNASTY, since the swedish audience had stopped watching it and FALCON CREST had more viewers in Sweden. We never saw the last 3 years during the 80's.

John Forsythe looks bored filming this. Alexis jumping into that car was just not in character. "I wouldn't touch you with a 10 ft pole" apparently the writers were creatively blocked. The language used was dubbed as in the bedroom the man in the tux clearly says "move". What is with the 6 shooters? Mattew must have been pressed to find hand held semi automatics. The overall attention to details, plots and dialogue were lost by this time.

The crouching as they descended downstairs looks like another camera was filming from a different angle and either it or another piece of equipment needed to be avoided. Alexis and the car, the season opener to this were absolutely lame. Several cast members were obviously getting bored, who can blame them with the quality of writing. The following season the show should have been carefully written out.
