This he stated most movingly in dedicating the military cemetary at Gettysburg: "that we were highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain-that this nation, under God shall have a new birth of freedom-and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
Terrible, sad scene - but you sure can tell that those are actors in military uniforms and not a real funeral detail: A real funeral detail would have had their asses chewed off for being that sloppy.
This custom of the folding of the flag and giving it to the family is so... ahh it's tragically solemn. I don't mean to sound disrespectful, it's rather a good "tradition, but you know... "the love of your life died, but you get this huge flag".

For example, say a parent scolds a child, and summons the child to do something.The child might say "fine" but by the intonation, gestures, or simply expression you can tell it's not fine. it's like seeing the difference between "not really" and "really not".they're technically the same,right?

I know how Neela feels. In August, my friend's dad who was like a second father died. He was in the Air Force. Attending a military funeral is even harder, Id say, then attending a civilian funeral. My friend has the flag, the casings from the 21 gun salute, and his shoulder boards. I dont think I will ever be able to hear TAPS again without crying.
My father is in the navy. I saw this video and I started to cry casue I know, one day, although I don't want to, I'll have to pass this horrible moment.
I've been to civilian funerals but never to a military funeral and I've seen lots of movies and the gun shooting and when they give you the flag, god, PLEASE PEOPLE NOW THAT THE ELECTIONS ARE COMMING PLEASE I BEG YOU ALL VOTE NO TO IRAK WAR .THINK OF THE FAMILYS WHO LOST THE LOVE ONE IN A STUPID WAR.
It to hard to believe when someone dies that your world changes. I used to think that I would live forever here on this Earth until I had some close calls myself. You really wonder sometimes on what lies a head of you. We just have to believe that things will get better...
