and/ or mutate what you should eat and tell us we are barbaric??!! We Use every part of the whale that we can and what we don't use we give to the Polar Bears that are starving because of the damn global warming due to massive burning of fossil fuels, Not to mention the damn oil rigs that will be there soon to destroy all living creatures and make our land unlivable for any animals!!!! So maybe you should get all your facts straight before making any judgement calls about me and my culture!!!!
This is the way we live. We hunt, we take pride in what we do and we do our best at it. We do not judge you by the foods you eat or by the way you live. So why do it to us? We believe everything is sacred from the ground we walk on to the air we breath. We don't tell you guys to quit buying cars or burning other fossil fuels which you found on our land to begin with. We don't criticize you for eating plants or chickens or cows. Yet you kill them harshly and feed them with steroids fertilizers
"I am Iliiyaq... Daughter of Qinugan... My father and mother hunted this Ocean before me... My name is Iliiyaq... I am a hunter... This is my OCEAN... And my sons and daughters will hunt it with their sons and daughters after I am gone... COME ON!"
The ocean is our FARM!! But we don't feed them with toxic SHIT! No need for antibiotic shots, no need for making them big, fat and healthy. We let nature take it's course. We didn't plan on getting this exact whale, nor did we intend on killing a baby and yes we were upset about it. We love our ocean and it is means to survive. Our elders grew up on this and some don't have the taste for COW or whatever else you can buy from the store.
These larger numbers correspond to pre-whaling estimates, indicating this population has fully recovered. However, should climate change substantially shrink sea ice, they could be threatened by increased shipping traffic
Researchers from the School of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences have been studying the whales feeding behavior in the Point Barrow area. The status of other populations is less well known. There were about 1,200 off West Greenland in 2006, while the Svalbard population may only number in the tens.
In March, 2008, Canada's Department of Fisheries and Oceans stated that previous estimates in the Eastern Arctic had undercounted, with a new estimate of 14,400 animals (r. 4,800–43,000).[16].
The bowhead population around Alaska has increased since commercial whaling ceased. Alaska Natives continue to kill small numbers in subsistence hunts each year. This level of killing (25–40 animals annually) is not expected to affect the population's recovery. The population off Alaska's coast (the "Bering-Chukchi-Beaufort stock") appears to be recovering and was about 10,500 animals as of 2001.
we'll take you 100 miles from society n let u die out ther not giving a damn or even thinkn of pickn u up i'll tie u 2 my tree rub sum whale blubber on u n wait 4 a polar bear
yeah they all look REAL hard up for money there dont they! brand new suv's,four wheelers, nice expensive new clothes etc etc..the fuck they still depleting an already near depleted ocean eco system for?!
@tasteegold7772 yeah!!!! right on bro!!! they should stay poor and live in their nasty ass tents, dirty savages. kill them all, i say. kill them all. (for those who have yet to understand sarcasm, look it up)
@jombur1 hey bro..learn to interpret what you read correctly BRO..who the hell said these inupiats should be poor??!..point is if they're not hard up for dough then they shouldnt be hunting gigantic ass endangered marine mammals to chop the fuck up then drive off home in their escalade's!!.it's the fucking 21'st century man not the damn 9th! i tell the imbecilic inbred faroese and icelanders etc the same fucking thing!
@tasteegold7772 hahahahahahahaha inuits arent poor the gas u pay 4 comes from our land making us big bucks the kind that make a hater like u lol we sum beast jus try n kill all of us we start hunting at age 5 so i think im a better shot than u
The japanese kill Whales to sell, then what they can't sell sits in a warehouse until it goes bad, then go out to get some fresh stock. The Inuits however eat ALL of the Whale and it represents more than 60% of their entire food intake. i wish the whole world could hold a public vote to see how many are against whaling or in favour.
Secondly, whaling should only be allowed to those who "need" it for survival...
its a controversy because they want the inuit people and others who stay up north to pay for food that has to be shipped in and make the governent some money
What controversy is there to it, were not sitting there with another boat tryin to intervene with us hunting them and were not waving "scientific studies" signs like some oriental country. We are sitting there plain and simply hunting to feed ENTIRE communities, not only that but among the first to eat next to the whaling crews is the Elders who we hold in high respect.
This is a difficult topic to discuss. Sensitivities have to be given to native peoples sustaining themselves in the way they always have but at the same time, bowhead whales suffer tremendously when they are being killed. The harpoon severes their spinal cord and they drown while paralyzed. Such torment and anguish. But the natives are very grateful and respectful of the "blessing" as they refer to the whale. Hard to decide. I disagree with it.

Screw the "Humane " Society. They do nothing to actually help animals. They are a lobbying group just like the assholes at PETA

Would it be ok for you to be killed and eaten by Lions if no part of you was to be wasted?

If we were intended to eat whales, don't you think we would be born with jaws, fins, gills and the ability to swim?

It is a very precious video. The video proves that whaling is performed in Alaska. However, there is extremely little that the number of comment is 2.
The sea shepherd doesn't interfere with only the whaling of Alaska. Why will be it?
