  • hello, i have been looking for one of these for a long time and cant find them, can you post a link to a website that sells these ho scale live steamers

    thanks

  • hielscher-dampfmodelle.de/cms/index.php

  • @calypso22 thank you man:)

  • Which oil can be used? Does it have to be special steam engine oil?

  • I normally use steam oil on my engines, but this engine is so tiny that steam oil is too thick and tends to slow it down. A small drop of light oil seems to work best.

  • Awesome technology :D Really inspiring video, and I like the fact that you talk and show us how it's working :D

  • Thanks. I just spent most of yesterday stripping it down and giving it a good service. Works like new again after a couple of years of regular use.

  • @calypso22 Great :) Models are enjoyable on a whole other level when they are powered the proper way instead of going for the simple and boring electric motor option.

  • Lovely video! I'm amazed at how the whole system works! Simply brilliant! I also like the fact that there's 'natural' weathering at the back due to the heat.

  • were did u get it from

  • Just bought my own B4. Got it as a kit and just finished it. There will be a video soon coming up (it's in german but that's not so important. Very nice, smooth runner. And it's so powerful. I was amazed. Great video, John.

  • Way to go! Welcome to the club LOL.

My B4 always manages to bring a smile to my face whenever I run it.

    Any chance of a video?

  • @calypso22

Just uploading one. Maybe half an hour or so and then it will be online.

Why do you say welcome to the club?

  • are you English?

and how much did you pay for that

  • cool engine. I want to buy myself a "grasshopper" from hielscher. did you buy yours as a kit?

  • I bought me a B4 as well now. Very much fun!

  • whats 3 ccs

  • @ShaurntheSheep

Thats 3 cubic centimeters (3 mililiters)

  • oh wow i want one is that a wilesco on the desk as well?

  • No, that's a Märklin 4149/7 from about 1919.

  • What a neat little toy! Better than the electric train I had as a kid!

  • shame it didnt have actual side pistons working like the hornby live steam 00 stuff.

  • Too small I suppose. Hornby models are much larger.

  • @calypso22

    theres space I reckon.

    Still a cool model.

  • @calypso22 u bcan get pistons that size well nowdays u can

  • Excellent little runner for its size...it's very hard to get 4 wheel shunters to run that well as electrics, much less a live steamer. Thanks for the very informative video---now to find one....

  • These Lutz trains are the coolest, I just ordered the western American style loco with the cow catcher. I can't wait!

  • Where do you get denatured alcohol?

  • Your local hardware store should have it.

  • Thanx, nice video. This video is the reason I purchased one of these.

  • what do those weigh and how much can they pull?

  • I wanted to buy one of these but as I could get no info from the makers or sellers,I gave up.Seems a good tool though, thanks for showing us what one looks/works like.

  • What a cute little engine, John! Is this a lone specimen or are they manufactured and for sale? I'd prefer mine all black though. ;)
