People hatin' on Kessler have no soul. He's like a chubby, slightly annoying but quite lovable puppy that you can't help but hug. Attempts at humour grossly overshadowed by the rest of the crew, an obsessive dedication to being part of something greater, and the unfortunate fate of screwing up everything he does. He's endearing and frightening at the same time.

In the end though, he is not our hero. He is a silent guardian. A watchful protector.
