  • Superb.TY for sharing.

  • I remember I performed the voices of spring at the conservatory Easter concert exactly with the notes Erna Sack uses, and the same cadenzas and staccati, when I was about 13 years old. I could sing up to the highest E of the piano keyboard. Now I'm 18 and my highest note is 2 notes lower, it's the C that is 3,5 tones higher than the Queen of the Night Fs in the aria "der Hoelle Rache":)

  • u jelly bird?

  • :OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • This is amazing!

  • listen also this, please, on youtube search for

Hildegard von Bingen - Ave generosa - Astrea Amaduzzi, Mattia Peli - Live, 2011

  • what aria is mado singing ¿¿¿¿ i wanna knoowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • Yma Sumac had as is known a bigger range of voice than Erna Sack and Miliza Korjus, so I doubt, that that are the "highest notes", although I think it's even so a amazing performance...

  • mado is the best EVER!!

  • She's an opera singer.... and they usually rely on vocal gymnastics..the higher the vocals its more dramatic...as everybody knows opera's are usually story's that has a tragic endings...this recording is so old that its quite impressive as it sound....and I don't think there is anybody out there that sing the way she does....at least not that I know of.....Maria Callas probably comes close because she has that clarity when she sings but otherwise she is unbelievable ....Thanks for uploading!!!!

  • That's kind of awesome. Such control

  • These high notes are very impressive. However, the quality and the actual timbre of these voices is not that great. I don't know if it's the recording but these voices sound weak, shrill and hollow to me. I think the whole voice suffers when pushed to such extremes. No one should sing above a high G#. It's just not healthy. I wish more emphasis was put a virtuosity and less on vocal pyrotechnics. It should be less "how high" and more "how well" you sing.

  • @MissMiasWorld

Of course, but listen to her other performances and you won't tell anymore that they are not among the greatest singers.

  • @MissMiasWorld This singer was a different place in time. I Think 1920's Berlin mindset when I am listening to this, not les Mis in 1990's Toronto. Seneca the younger said something to the effect of all art being a replication of something found in nature, this piece brings that. But art is art, if not your cuppa, ah well denn, jah?

  • @MissMiasWorld

  • @MissMiasWorld With poor recording techniques of that time, they were heard: you must imagine any of them by your side at this very moment shooting the highest notes of them ...! I presume that would blow the glass from which you're drinking ... cheers...Just as there are virtuosos on the piano or violin, or other instruments, the voice is also a tool to express feelings ... A person can take their skills to the fullest, if he /she want to do ...

  • @MissMiasWorld this recording is awful. Erna singing Fruhlingsstimmen is amazing and there is no stress in the voice at all this recording though sounds like she does.

  • @MissMiasWorld actually, in nature, the higher the tone, the weaker, shriller and hollower it becomes. That's not a question of talent, it is a question of physics. I think you're just jealous, calling it not healthy. Oh well.

  • @pinciata2 i agree with u,XD!!

  • The ability to produce such tones.. is.. virtuosity...

  • @MissMiasWorld .. also, the ability to produce such tones is due to virtuosity. Compare these high notes to those of Susie Summers... big difference.

  • @MissMiasWorld well i think if u can sing high and u have a nice voice why not,LOL i have 5 octaves g2-d8 and my voice is soft and light. i just go signed to columbia so u will hear from me soon on tv etc.... but yea its the aduio thats messing up this supreme vocalist amazing voice!!!

  • @MissMiasWorld Humm?!

  • I love Mado!!! Her voice is so clear, and when she sings the Bflat above High C, stunning.

  • Whistles are for amateur.

  • I don't know that peole long time ago can sing that high. Amazing!

Especially the first singer. The notes are so clear.

  • This is one of my life goals: to sing as high as Erna Sack. Could anyone tell me the highest note she sang? my highest note is the C that is an octave below the piano's highest C. It's actually really easy to sing after a couple or maybe three years of singing. Of course, i've been singing for like, ten years. Before that I was an infant and I cried. Duh. Did anybody know that babies use the same muscle for crying that opera singers use for singing? Haha.

  • @LIttleColonialDolly Yes, I CAN believe that babies use the same muscles to cry as opera singers use to sing: there's a baby next door who hasn't stopped practising for weeks now

  • @LIttleColonialDolly-

I don't know what her highest note she ever sang was, but I read in a biography of her that she was able to sing the G above High C with virtually no effort. So to sing like Erna Sack, you not only need the ability to sing very high notes rangewise but also need to have a very high tessitura as well.

  • @Jpmadore1 Thanks! That's good to know.

  • CARALHO!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @acitipo Correccion Yma Sumac tenia 5 octavas no seis.

  • OH MY GOSH!!! I was just plastered against the wall as soon as this started playing. How can any human do that!? I have honestly never heard ANYTHING so incredible.

  • WOW!!!

  • mado robin wonderful singer with impeccable technique, sack is just scratchy and screechy. also i have only heard her sing Bb over high C so im not sure about how easily they could hit C over high C altho mado could do it with beauty if anyone could.

  • Magnifique

  • Magnifique mado

  • Erna from Germany and Mado from Paris!

    The very very Best!

    Thanks for posting!

    Please do not forget!

    Elfie Mayerhofer from Vienna!

    Aloha

  • Erna Sack's voice is sooooo pure, i love it!!!!!

  • wow..mado blows me every time

  • 2:45 sounded like an instrument!...it is beyond human voice.

  • I agree sometimes her voice sounds electronic or instrumental.

  • BTW, i love this Opera singer! She breaks the rules, that's why i luv her '.

  • mado robin in my opinion i think she was the most skillful soprano who ever lived probably.

  • hahahahaahah what the voice is this?,,is this really exist (i guess) lol, they are phenomenal, legend, amazing, unbelievable, singers

the have a rare vocal cords of human ever!!!they really sounds a dolphin and birds,,,AMAZING !!!!

  • mado robin ripped it.

  • MI DIOS, ¡que obra la tuya!.

    Gracias johnxxx20000

  • She used the so called SUPER HEADTONES. She's a legend!

But the most thing to described her was she lacked in power of her voice though she has a very good and electrifying vibrato.

  • Doroty Marie Robin: THE BEST. (Mado Robin)

  • mado robin is the best coloratura soprano

  • Totally agree with you, Mado Robin, better even than Maria Callas.

  • the first time i hear her voice im totally amazed... im from the philippines and there's no filipino or filipina cant sing like mado robin... mado robin is my favorite coloratura soprano singer...

and my favorite singer in the world is regine velasquez because of her effortless belting power in live music i like her lung power she can belt highnotes effortless...

  • omg! I couldnt believe when i first heard her! i thought her voice was manipulated to be higher pitch but gosh! its her!

  • Not true. Lily Pons was diminutive and possesed a voice richer than Sack´s. I keep on saying that she used flagiolet register. Change of quality in super high notes is clear. Robin´s register changes are much better. Top notes sound real to me.

  • bird or lark?

  • The lark is considered sacred, and often called " Mary's bird or lark". Sacred voices, aren't they?

  • This singing is so extreme and underground. Definately new territory for me to explore. Excellent video!

  • Please stand corrected.

Her name is MADELEINE Marie Robin

  • thank you for the correction

  • Excellent singers & amazing song!!!!!

  • My wine goblet just shattered - J/K!

  • when I listen to Erna Sack remind Yma Súmac

  • very good breath control

  • Sack sang with head only... Sounds a little thin. Robin was full voice. How she did produce those notes? No one knows...

  • agreed. mystery.

  • Can you explain a little what do you mean by "full voice"? do you mean like chest voice?

  • Yes,Chest voice.

  • It can also be head voice supported by the chest voice.

  • It's not that she sang head voice, it's just that her voice was light. Voice has its own texture like some people have big bones and others very small ones. Just look at what they looked like. A violin has a thiner sound than a cello.

    Each voice is unique...

  • A bird may be known by its song... I would like to thank you.

  • I think what we need to remember is that EVERY singer has a few weaknesses, even the best.

  • simply without words! perfect!

    =)

  • 0.0 the longest i've held an F6 is like...five seconds.......

  • Someone commented about Mado Robin's technique saying she doesn't have a pleasing vocal tone. A few things we should remember is the Robin died well before her prime which is sad. And although her voice doesn't have the aesthetic that people have grown accustomed to, her voice functioned in a very healthy manner and had a flexibility superior to many. Try listening to her recordings of Heinrich Proch's music. Most singers only dream of doing what she can with her voice in those pieces.

  • A friend view, we see, the two sing beautiful, I in particular what I like most Mado Robi, so you can tell, there was something I would like to see the Mexican Angel Peralta, who was regarded in the world as "The Ruiseñor Mexican, "his visit biobrafía, you will note that perhaps was much higher than these singers.

  • mado robin has hit such a frequency that she can only sing in windowless halls

  • Heres how i feel about these two women, they were relatively good singers, but the only reason they had careers is because of their inhuman ranges. Mado Robin in particular does not have a particularly pleasing vocal tone, and the rest of her range has no body and core to the sound at all, but she does have a high Bb. Erna Sack is a bit better in terms of sounds and core, but if you listen to some of her recordings, shes notoriously very inconsistent with pitch, the high Ab in this start flat.

  • The only reason ANY singer has a career is becuase of something about their voice. All coloraturas who have great high notes have that same distinction. Robin also has a huge voice and it gets bigger the higher she goes - unlike any other double-C singer. That is why she is famous. Her voice was so big that she talks about not being able to really do a trill and needs to sing slower than most. I find her voice pleasing - so remember - your comment is only your opinion - NOT FACT - except to you.

  • hence the comment being prefaced with "heres how i feel..."

  • EXACTLY!

  • Impresionante...

  • Miss Erna Sack is better as Mado robin Erna has better Coloratura She is the best Coloratura Soprano she is Lyric Coloratura Soprano and i believe her Higherst Note is C7.

  • Mado's voice is truly sweeter and more lyric.

  • oh my goodness. amazing

  • I remember hearing Erna Sack when I was a child. My father had the record. He collected opera LP's. He kept them in a hard see through cover. When he passed on, he left his collection and all his opera knowledge to me. I still have this record and is in mint condition. Her story is a great one. Believe it or not she started out as a mezzo!

    Thanks for this wonderful memory.

  • no she started as a contralto

  • I think what he means is that her operatic career began singing minor soubrette and/or mezzo characters, which is true, it did.

  • i kno but she in very early years started singing alto roles

  • Just one word: INCREDIBLE !

  • Quand on m'arrache un ongle, j'en fais autant !!

Non je plaisante, c'est ébourrrriffffant !!!!!!

  • A delightful video. Inter-cutting beautiful bird views between the coloratura bits was a great idea. Thank you for posting this.

  • 1:06-1:20 - F6 for 14 SECONDS!

  • F#...even more amazing!

  • wow amazzzing

  • Terrific!

  • GOD, Erna's breath control is astounding!!!

  • oh wow... my god...mariah is so not da best at whistling who ever says dat will look lyk a fool mariah tries 2 impress us wit how high she can go but she forgets 2 show her whole range...lyk these ladies yu noe how they sound like from G5 to C7 but miss mariah you only hear her belt her head off from C5 to A5 and then she whistles between G6 to C7

  • no mariah can belt till a G#5 and Whisle Until G#5 and why everyone always talks about mariah? jus leave her alone damn that Gurl is an phenomenon whether u like it or not.

  • I don't agree with you. i think mariah is not phenomenal because she is not doing anything unique. She has just been popular throughout parts of her career.

  • Her voice is a phenomenal gift.. that is not arguable im not only refering to having 5 octave range (which is extremly rare) but to be able to shift the different octaves of her voice so effortlessly (i know that doesnt happen that way anymore). She is a unique talent, even tho she did not go for opera.

  • lol...mariah is no longer phenomenal...even if she used to be....what a waste. And her "whistle" is not good...

  • who is mariah??????

  • @iceroby72 Thank YOu

  • @iceroby72 Mariah Carey is a pop singer, she made concerts all over the world for over 10 years.. getting awards and world record for the high note in "the star spangled banner. Sack and Robin are Opera singers, I mean.. a different career doesnt make a woman voice better than an other. We're here supposed to enjoy, not to criticize someone who's not even showed in this video. This is opera.

  • @gordiam thank you! Exactly! I go to these opera videos every now and then and run into disturbed opera enthusiasts who criticize and dismiss the entire music industry outside of opera and basically say that opera is the only meaningful genre and the others are trash which is beyond nonsense. Sometimes, people should just enjoy the music and stop going crazy

  • @iceroby72 THE BEST FYI

  • @iceroby72 mariah carey can sing much higher than these women. That doesn't mean she sings better though.

  • @funnyfacerful hahahahahaha Carey don't use head voice for sign that notes

  • @funnyfacerful ????????????????????

  • @iceroby72 mariah carey is a pop singer using whistle register, they sing opera, a totally different career

  • Thanks so much for these clips!

  • !!!!!!

  • Now I've seen everything...

  • Not since a teapot! Holy schmoly! I think I have nerve damage after that. Simply incredible....

  • Now that's how whistling ought to be done strong and clear and not clouded with air like the Mariah and Chante of today. Thankfully at least Shanice is doing it correctly.

  • This is not whistle though, is head voice extension, whistle is just a disconnected process.

  • this is not whislte..

  • Sorry, but when I speak of whistle, I am not speaking of the method, I am speaking of the note above E6. I know that classically trained singers are trained to use head voice and Shanice mostly uses head voice to create her high notes too and that's why these notes are stronger and richer in texture than Mariah who uses what can be referred to as the false cord which is why her tone is airy. Any vocal coach doesn not consider a breathy tone healthy.

  • it's called bell register. this is exceptionally high bell.

  • oh man! This just is insane! Amazing.
