  • Hello. How do you track the distance between your magnet and the ball? How did you use the infrared sensor to calculate the distance?

  • This is the magnetic equivalent of balancing a basketball on the end of a broomstick, so it certainly isn't trivial. But anyone sufficiently interested can build one with the "Electromagnetic Floater" directions at Instructables.

  • Impressive electromagnet. How long can you run it with that 2in diameter (?) ball bering under it before it overheats?
