  • what is this amazing piano track?

  • LOL, I suffer from this disorder and the public transportation is SPOT ON for me as well.

  • I've heard people say that really pretty people get ugly when they're older and vise versa.

  • @cheeseisniceable nonsence , some people stay attractive , some people get ugly but it completly depends on so many things , Diet , Sleep routine , Stress , How often you drink and excersize , the hot and cold enviroments they can both affect your skin , smoking makes you wrinkled , the list could go on and on :D

  • that girl is pretty

  • okay that guy was fine

  • This last girl is actually really pretty! What do people do this to themselves? It's so sad!

If you feel good about yourself then others will feel good about you! Trust me! I'm an average looking girl and there are certain days that I hate the way I look but I have embraced my flaws and now people like me for what I am! It's THAT simple! I wish all people could see it this way... life is too small to worry about things like an average appearance! Live your life!

  • I wished I looked like the last girl.

  • I love her eyes

  • I have friends that would die for a gorgeous face like hers!

  • Girl, don't you understand that there are ASIANS out there getting surgery to look like you?

  • That dr is hot!

  • My god Ruth is so beautiful :)

  • Attention whore.

  • shes gorgeous!

  • Ruth is actually hot. I hope she sees this comment.

  • I'll marry this girl. Make her feel beautiful everyday.

  • @polengsantiago even if you did I doubt it would help much because it is a mental disorder

  • I love his voice.

  • she's gorgeous even without the makeup ! :\ i wish i looked like her omg.

  • But she's so so so so so pretty. Anyone else agree?

  • She's actually really pretty.I wish she could realize that. :)

  • I'd much rather look like her. I feel like the ugliest person alive and id take her looks over mine any day, I think she's stunning!

  • Well if she looks like a man i must say its a special beautiful man- not someone i have seen before. The girl is beautiful even so beautiful she could be a model. No you are not ugly at all thats for sure. It is all in your mind its a physcological aspect.

  • Dear young man you are totally normal looking if you just would get rid of the marble on your chin -:)

  • she is beautiful

  • FIRST WORLD PROBLEMS... That's all I have to say...

  • wtf, she's beautiful.

  • that blonde girl is one of the most gorgeous people ive ever seen !

her eyes are stunning, jesus if i could look half as good as her. holy

  • i don't mean to offend, but when i saw this girls face i shouted "OH F-CK YOU" she's SO pretty! what the hell if i was half as pretty as most of the people on here I'd be happy

  • I've been reading these comments for the past 3 parts and I think people could be a little insensetive, it's a PSYCHOLOGICAL DISORDER for crying out loud, you can actually be the most physically beautiful person in the world but your mind won't make that connection.

  • @horrorvictim

Yeah... I'm not sure most understand that bit. The self portraits are so interesting, especially hers.

  • Ruth has the most amazing eyes. I wish *I* had eyes that shade and shape. I'd kill to look like her.

  • That girl's eyes are so pretty though!

  • The blonde one is well fit to put it like a teenager

  • I'm a thai guy, i'm just love the way you guys are (western), and i love how you guys have such natural beautifulness; and i don't see anyone here ugly at all. ; )

  • concealer can lessen the appearance of dark circles.

  • Use your energy towards curing cancer or helping a child who doesn't have a mum instead of wasting it on the superficial pursuit of looking like a super model. What if you really were ugly??!!? SO WHAT. You can still make meaningful contributions to the world no matter what you look like. You're terrified that other people are going to judge you for how you look but you are doing EXACTLY what you don't want others to do. Rise above the superficiality and get a life please.

  • @acoolbean1 These people aren't being vain. They have a disorder. Part of the reason they feel so ashamed and often don't seek help is because they know they will be judged for being 'superficial' when it's really the opposite. This girl doesn't want to look like a supermodel, she has a mental illness that causes her to see a skewed image of herself, leading to intense feelings of worthlessness and self hatred. Once again, it's an illness. Not vanity.

  • A quick question.. Or two.. Can this illness get cured?and did i have it? I felt so uggly that i didnt go out for 3years.. I mean those friends i had, mostly guys, told me i was pretty. But i actually just saw that fat uggly girl in the mirror. Putting make up on didnt help. I pushed away my friends by refuse to go to parties or restaurants,or coffeeplaces or well out at all. I only was outside the door when my dog needed to go. But my parent had to walk him, bc i couldnt. But i also have posttds

  • if those eyes look like boys eyes then every boy in the world has really nice, really good shaped eyes :D

  • Bullshit that blonde thinks she is ugly!!!

I bet she knows how pretty she is!@##$#@$

This gets me pissed!! There is actual people with this disorder who actually refused to been seen ((I actually know someone with this disorder)).. While this desperate fame seeker wants the whole world to see her!!

  • @AliceBoceanu4Yaoi well said.some people have real problems and others cry because they think they are ugly. something about the girl tells me she just wants attention

  • nevermind your eyes those teeth lol

  • @ashleyhat You are a TROLL!! This is the 2nd nasty comment of yours on this series. I don't know what you look like on the outside but you're extremely ugly INSIDE!!! take your disgusting nasty comments elswhere!! Bully!!!

  • I have BDD, and it really is like being imprisoned in your own body.

  • This blonde girl is well above average looking. Lovely skin, pouty lips, big blue eyes. It's just a shame she doesn't see it

  • she' so pretty! her boyfriend is a lucky guy ;)

  • @wintertrine ooh i dunno about that.if she were ur girlfriend and cried like that every day, eventually u would make a dash for it

  • i feel like the last girl i cant leave my house without makeup, i refuse im ugly with out it i know it.

  • @mysticnekoji i dont see it as heavy makup either

  • But she's so gorgeous! ):

  • the blonde is a quite good actress ;)

  • She is one of the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. What happened to your heart? There is nothing to worry.

  • People. This is a serious mental illness, not just people whining thinking they're ugly. You can even loosely tell a difference between people with bad self-esteem and BDD by whether they think they're even fit to be a part of society. Hiding yourself away every day and having no life and no job and no friends? Nobody would choose that just because they're sad about their looks. This is serious.

  • this im ugly thing is just an excuse, they just have bog standard anxiety imo. the im ugly crap is just an extra barrier between themselves and dealing with the issue

  • wtf this is SO sad. the blonde girl is so beautiful! :o

  • I'm actually jealous of that blond girl ....

  • I just learned something today. BDD's a bitch! All these people look more than fine! Thank god I don't have BDD.

  • @donwooss Same here man. These ppl arent even ugly. too bad they have this disease.

  • She's gorgeous. It almost makes you want to slap her back to reality.

  • my god, she looks like a model without her mascara! Very classy~ ^_^

  • They're all so beautiful, with blue or green eyes and blonde. I'm so ugly with brown dirt colored eyes and brown ugly hair with ugly white skin and ugly EVERYTHING. I wish I could just go to sleep and never wake up again.

  • this woman is beautiful. She has beautiful eyes, and shes got beautiful hair.

  • Comment removed

  • the blonde womans eyes are nice

  • It's funny how the first thing she says is "I hate my eyes" because the first thing I thought when she popped up on the screen was "oh my god she has the prettiest eyes!"

  • Jesus....I cant even use makeup to cover my face. These people have coping mechanisms, I do not.

  • dude..how cute is that guy??

  • Lol, as a person who is genuinely ugly, and who has been told to my face many times that I am, I understand what these people are going through. But, the problem I'm having here is that I know these people are NOT ugly. they're not perfect but who is? And I think people place too much emphasis on such things in this day and age, it's caused people to consider themselves to be human garbage because they never feel they measure up, they never feel worth anything in the realm of human sexuality.

  • Okay, these people are gorgeous. Man, I wish they'd see that.

  • O___O The blonde girl is so hot. Wtf.

  • his pock marks prob look worse than his circles - no offense.

  • she's gorgeous!

  • That blonde girl is pretty hot.

  • Obviously, they're all serious. They have an illness and my thoughts go out to them for their bravery!

  • I remember I knew it was starting to happen and I had to fight it tooth and nail or I would become something awful inside

  • I did go through a time where it effected my school. I not only felt I had to conceal myself but also that I felt this way about myself because I knew the frame of mind itself was unattractive. It was totally nutso...I was an empty person then.

  • I'm pretty sure I had this in high school. I remember it being hellish but knowing it was out of control narcissism. I had to force myself to stop wearing makeup. It was very hard at first. But now I'm 26 and I think I look better with a natural look. I don't wear any makeup at all because I like the way my bare face looks. It's a persons countenance that makes them attractive more than physical beauty anyway

  • The blonde is genuinely PRETTY wthhhhh!

  • The blond girl is so pretty wtf is she thinking!!!!!

  • Why don't they give these people some benzodiazepines?

  • she is soooooooo not ugly. shes actually pretty

  • Ruth is so pretty! Her eyes are to die for!

  • How do you think someone with BDD would react if a large group of people told her that they were ugly? They seem to fear social situations because they're scared that people will treat them like the elephant man, so what would happen if people did overreact to that extent?

  • WTF?? I haven't seen ugly so far. These people haven't seen me. I'm ugly as a mutherfucker and I'm proud of it!

  • @Chuckjagerdiver That's the point, they see themselves in a totally warped manner from normal people.

  • @Chuckjagerdiver that's why it is a disorder... it is not BDD if you are actually ugly..

  • some people don't understand what it is like for the sufferer. The psychological pain is very real and unless you are in that person's shoes, you can't actually give a negative comment. Yes, she is very pretty but the issue is actually more to do with her mental state and self-esteem, not just the image everyone sees in front of us. The mind is powerful and strong. Just because we can't 'see it' and it isn't '3rd world stuff' doesn't mean this is less significant. Takes experience to understand.

  • I can totally identify with that girl, I could sit for hours putting on makeup and It's probably the best feeling I get all day when I cover everything up

  • This blonde girl is beautiful, I wish she could see it!!!

  • She is gorgeous! Absolutely gorgeous. It's sad that she can't see it.

  • OMG is this blonde girl serious???! She's very pretty!

  • Comment removed

  • Oh my god, she's so beautiful. I'm not even lying..wow. HER EYES. I wanna give this girl a hug and....how can she think she's hideous?

  • Wow, that girl has no clue, she's friggin gorgeous

  • Comment removed

  • @TheFinlandnator actually ive seen a lot of really ugly people who display confidence to the highest level.

  • OMG!! she's absolutely gorgeous; if i met her at the street she would totally think i'm a frog..i kinda understand her feelings. It sucks

  • dis so sooo funny dis ppl think theire ugly, but theire fuc*ing beautiful

  • Her eyes are so beautiful! Such an amazing shade of green as well, like gems

  • He actually looks like a guy I used to like.

  • LOOK AT THE SHOP KEEPER! POOR LAD! IF HE HAD BDD he would go in to the doctors office and be like ' i am really ugly' and the the doctor would go...'errrrrrrrrr'.....

  • women having a phobia of not wearing makeup, who knew? lol

  • As interesting as I find this, I can't help but notice how selfish these people are and how little concern they have on what is going on in the world around them that does not directly involve them thinking about people looking at them. It's a disease that's really a form of narcissism.

  • @CMR1188 It seems to be one of those things where you just have to be in their shoes in order to understand. I am sure they are concerned about how their situation affects others, but are helpless to break free of the control this disorder has over them. I imagine the negative affect this has on the people around them just ads to their feelings of guilt. I think using judgmental words like "selfish" is a mistake when referring to people with mental disorders.

  • @MissyJD94 Big ditto Miss. You're dead on. Someone once said if you really were in another's shoes, you'd do exactly as they have done because you are in their shoes. It's helped me not to judge because after all who am I to say anything? It also creates compassion. Something to teach our children so they can be sweeter people.

  • @Songsmirth Voice of reason, there you are! Nice to hear from you. :)

  • @MissyJD94 :) Thanks Missy. Songs

  • @MissyJD94 I think I can understand these people cause I went through the same thing for an extended period of my life. I didn't leave my room and I tried killing myself. I get over all that without help and that's why I think I can comment on this. These people choose everyday to keep living like this or just get over it. There's no other choice and I'm glad I was so disgusted at my self-pity that it helped me to get over it. This is a psychological issue, not an illness

  • @user37818 I think it is very nice that you got over your problems without help. I totally commend your personal strength. One thing though, everyone is different. What will help you won't necessarily help someone else. I don't understand how you can say you went through the same thing. Obviously you don't have BDD. You don't even believe it's a real illness. There are people who may be reading this who have BDD and I don't think you should sneeze at their problems.

  • Why don't we stop trying to convince them that they are normal looking? If that's not what they see then that's not what they see. You need to help them accept them for who and what they believe they are and make them realize that there is more to life than their appearance. Take away those magazines, remove the mirrors out of their homes, and teach them to embrace another aspect of their life.

  • She looks like a living doll. What would make someone so pretty believe they're not?

  • My goodness, this woman is a babe! Anyone who thinks this isn't a mental illness should look a this woman.

  • I believe this issue is much worse in America...I always thought England was a more educated and open minded location...I believe it is...

  • @MrShake77 It has nothing to do with education or open mindedness. It's mental illness.

  • @MrShake77 HA! xD well, I've lived in England for 8 years, and I must say I strongly disagree. Geez... that's such an overstatement. Come live here for a while and you'll soon see what I'm talking about. :P

  • I hate going through tunnels on trains too, the lighting always makes everyone look really ill and odd looking, so i guess if you feel like this about yourself anyway it makes it worse.

  • She's really very pretty.

  • wow she is stunning absolutely gorgeous!

  • i can't help but consider that this illness may be a product of the high gloss marketing oriented photoshopped supermodel culture.

  • she's so cute .___.

  • Its easier to pick out imperfections when your close to perfect.

  • So thats how I can get a get a good looking gf......get one that thinks shes fugly

  • she's beautiful, but i understand where she's coming from.

  • What I wonder is if these people think average people are ugly ??

  • @CannibalJeri i don't think they do.You see other people as they are- it's how u think THEY see YOU that's the problem.i say this coz i went through something similar when i was a kid.it wasn't about wanting to look like someone in a glossy magazine, but thinking that when people saw me they are repelled.you hide away because you don't want to deal with that rejection.I'm in my 20s n even though i do not consider myself unattractive now,I can still see it from their perspective

  • She's ADORABLE.

  • She should thank God that she has a face. Some poor bastards have had it reconstructed after being shot in the face.

  • holy shit id try so hard to be wit her

  • @upcycle shit man thats nothing its the imperfections that make people perfect, they give people character and a unique look and thats what is beautiful

  • @MrNellodee I think you have a valid point. I just think it is important to be truthful about the reality of what is seen. instead of pretending it doesn't exist, like what the host of this show does and even how the therapist does. It is about being honest about our bodies.. and what they are like.. good stuff and stuff that is not as attractive or however you want to call it. And with that, a person can either grow to accept it.. or make changes to it, like make up or even cosmetic surgery.

  • @upcycle The problem with that is they may not actually need cosmetic surgery and yet will become obsessed with it, causing risks to their lives.

  • She's gorgeous

  • attention seeking

  • @eezysqueezy The emotional charge, IMHO, is probably from unresolved traumatic events that have emotionally embedded in the brain/mind and show as kind of PTSD symptoms like displayed in this doc.

  • @rinaXtokyo I think that sometimes what happens is that people have had an unresolved trauma which has become embedded in their emotional sensory memory banks of the brain/mind, which come in what I think is a kind of PTSD response to stimuli,

  • i used to apparently have a "social phobia" but how i dealt with it was just be myself and not give a fuck about what others say

  • @MDCCCXCIV Definately the best way.. but the hardest. If you are scared to go out of your house, the best thing is to just get out there. The longer you stay inside the harder it is to go out.

  • @MDCCCXCIV I agree with you completly, but I think when someone is as deep as these people and as convinced as they are about their apperances, it would be incredibly difficult to simply stop worrying and get on with life.

  • Comment removed

  • @MDCCCXCIV well said there. u found early cure. and u're so damn right also. it's because how we see ourselves is by reflecting through other people. if you were the only person in the whole world you'd never bother to even comb your hair. it's not true that we do things to look good for ourselves, no matter how nice a silly concept that sounds like. too bad some people do not share such strong will and mind and let things escalate until there's no escape without a qualified psychiatrist

  • @DonMega187 yeah people should accept you for who you are not if you wear expensive clothes or have a fancy haircut.

  • ooh I like the Blonde one..

  • I have to wonder to what extent the celebrity culture is to blame for this disorder.

  • WOW she is soo beautiful and has amazing eyes

  • Comment removed

  • @MrNellodee It's called make up. AKA as a "mask".

  • @upcycle even without make up shes amazing

  • @upcycle she may or may not be amazing with or without make up.. except we did not see her without make up in this video.or without here hear covering her face or having her hair colored artificially etc.

  • @upcycle we do see her without make up in a later part.

  • if she thinks that she looks ugly i wonder what she would think i look like

  • wow she is incredibly pretty!

  • @cospi212 anyone that spends a few hours putting on make up or a "mask" can be made to look pretty.

  • if there ugly i must look like a dead animal

  • they are all so beautiful inside and out

  • I wonder, if they had an artist draw them, as opposed to looking at photos or mirrors, would it give them a better insight to how others see them?

  • i have been diagnosed with this. but, I thinkshe is absolutely GORGEOUS! I, myself,......am SSSSSSSSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO fucking ugly! i envy those with confidence. i cry everytime i have to look in the mirror (which is very rare) i don't think i have this. because i KNOW that I am actually HIDEOUS. she has it though.

  • Oh i was exactly the same when i was a teenager. but I guess it was just a phase I was going through because of puberty. So glad I'm through this. It's hard to learn love yourself

  • What's the reverse of this condition? You know, people who are butt fugly but think they're dead sexy? Is there such a thing, or is just an act born of insecurity or similar?

  • The only unattractive thing about these girls is all the whining and their self- pity.

  • 4:15 she is so beautiful!

  • @aliSina47 so so so beautiful! sorry, I had to get that out.... :p

  • @aliSina47 she is average and probably has some trauma(s) in the past that have not been dealt with which have perverted into this.
