Does Valve Adjustment help the scooter stop vibrating so much? It seems my 50cc moped wants to rip apart vibrating so much but the vibration stop when going over 5mph
@saifayouby I would actually inspect the CVT first. Specifically the clutch. Check my other videos, I've got a CVT service vid that should show you anything you need to know to get it apart and look it over.
Question: I'm removing my air intake case and swapping it out with a high performance cone shaped filter. After removing the air intake case, what do you with the hose that remains attached to the case.Does it get reattached to something or completely removed and discarded
@JJMCQ88 Trace it to see where it goes. If it's the drain hose, leave it on the old airbox. If it's a crankcase vent (leads to the valve cover) you need to do something with it. A lot of ppl take a longer length of hose and run it from the valve cover up the frame for a few feet so you shouldn't get any oil spray etc... You can use a catch can or breather or combo of those. More info is on my forum if you need it (link on vid).
I need to replace some broken valve springs on my GY6 scooter. My questions are.... Do the valve stem keepers have a up or down position? Do the keepers need to be flush with the valve stem on the top? Also, is there a trick to taking the rocker arms off to get to the springs, or does the whole unit come off with the rocker arms? HELP please.
@Hooverdarnit The whole rocker assembly comes off when you remove the nuts on the cylinder studs, all as one piece. You'll have to either pull the head off or use air in the cylinder to get the job done. Easiest way is to take the head off. The keepers can't be flush with the end of the stem. There is a groove near the end where they'll sit. Once you pull it off and have a look, it's actually quite simple and needs no explanation IMO. Just pay attention while you remove everything.
the thing I have noticed is that they all vary as much as several thousanths of an inch and with that in mind it pays to adjust then fire it up and let it run it took me several tries to get it to quiet down and it seems no two are alike and as far as setting one different than the other is another question
@Hooverdarnit You'll need a valve spring compressor. PitPosse makes a nice one. There are some cheap ones out there that aren't nearly as nice, but should work if it's not something you plan to use much.
i have looked at many videos on this issue and this is by far the best....not perfect ,but the best at explaining this process...real good job,i will now check any other videos you have made...thanks!
If i upgrade my GY6 150cc and put a Big Bore 170cc in it would i have to change the valve or valve assembly? i do know i need to bore out some of the cylinder casing but other than that is there anything else that needs to be done?
@Armenshirin444 You'll have to pull the head so you will need to readjust the vavles. Nothing should have to be changed. You will need to be careful that compression isn't too high if you are just using the stock head. Not a bad idea to check piston to valve clearance with clay to make sure everything lines up and avoid the chances of bending a valve.
I have a 150 cc gy6. Someone told me that there is a compression release lever that releases compression for easier starts. Is this true, and if so, do you need to rotate engine so compression lever is off the rocker?
@machos580 First off, watch the video. If that's 0.08mm/0.10mm, that's fine. If you are setting them to 0.08"/0.10", then your gaps are way too large.

Btw. what kind of oil do you use to lubricate the feeler gauge and the engine when adjusting the valves?
Thank you!
Hypertenzion 4 days ago
@Hypertenzion Just use whatever motor oil you normally use in the engine.

Do you know if a special tool is needed to change a broken valve spring on a GY6?

@gst69man Compression releases are generally found on larger motorcycle engines. Never heard of a GY6 having one.

Great Vid 90gtvert! The only thing you forgot to mention was that this should be done on a cold or room temperature engine.

the gy6 works best when you put the intake to 0.18 and the exhaust 0.30
