@reijerlincoln My Dad purchased a 64 Lincoln Convertable back in 1977. the original invoice in the glove box said it was purchased new at Hollywood Lincoln in California. I still own my 64 Continental convertable that I bought in high school back in 1973. Currently stored in Oregon
@mustangmooney21 Wow...almost 40 years of ownership! Very cool. Quick tip: join thelincolnforum (dot) net. It's a wonderful forum full of knowledgeable people. Sixties Continentals make up 60% of the threads.
While it's sad to see this car get crushed, I do know they were a dime a dozen back in the day. Plus how awesome was that old car crusher? Why can't new crusher show that level of carnage or be that violent?
@crankwalk - yes thats what happened, some of the parts from that car were still around in the early 80's...i think a window motor from it even ended up in my Continental convertible
WORKED AT HOLLYWOOD LINCOLN MERCURY IN HOLLYWOOD FL, WHERE THE FILM COMPANY BOUGHT BOTH OF THESE LINCOLNS. THE 63 WAS A USED ONE YEAR OLD CAR TRADED BY A LOCAL DOCTOR.THE USED CAR DEPARTMENT SENT THE 63 INTO OUR SHOP AND IT WAS COMPLETELY GUTTED FOR THE CRUSH SCENE. TECHS WERE INVITED TO THE "CRUSH" FILMING. THE ORIGINAL SCENE WAS SHOT AND THE CRUSHED 63 FLATTENED THE RANCHERO, AND THEY HURRIDLY WENT TO HOLLYWOOD FORD AND BOUGHT ANOTHER ONE, CUT THE REMAINS OF THE 63 IN 1/2 THEN RESHOT
NO ENGINE AT:34.....NO BODY EITHER,HE'D BE ALL LEAKIN'OUT,IRONIC HOW THIS WAS DONE SO SOON AFTER JFK ASSASINATION,IM TOLD THAT THE 63 HE WAS SHOT IN WAS CRUSHED ;58 MINUTES AFTER THE SHOTS FIRED,/???WAS THERE AN ORDINANCE IN DASH?
@pattycat100567 nope never crushed......re inforced and revamped for other Presidents to use.....in the Ford Museum now......kinda creepy to think you are in a Car that JFK was killed in,and you are the next Pres. to use it?....me thinks they should have taken it to the Museum and leave it the way it was.(obviously cleaned up though)....as a reminder.....not the revamped one in the Museum now, hardly looks the same. or it`s a Copy? who really knows.... only the FBI knows for sure.
James Bond was in the trunk, of course Q made him body armor, so he was not hurt. He later cut himself out with a compact torch. Of course there is no engine or transmission, this is a tin bailer not a car crusher. These do not have the power to crush a frame or engine into a cube. An empty shell will crush like this. These machines are for tin and appliances, not cars.
Wasn't their a dead guy in the trunk? It's been years since I saw the movie, probably over 30 years ago. The Lincoln was pretty new when it was crushed.
A crushed '63 Lincoln would have been a heavy load to put in the back of a Falcon Ranchero. If the whole car was in there it would have burst the tires. Both of the Lincolns and the Falcon would be great cars to have today.
@67bigredsled i to hav a totally original 67 continental sedan with 57,000 miles on it that was used in a movie in new jersey. everything is original and the interior is mint, the exterior is pretty good. the only bad thing is that it doesnt run. when i watched this i was disgusted
As the proud owner of a totally original 1967 sedan with only 46,000 original miles I am sick watching this great Lincoln being crushed. But back then it was just another car-uuugh
@reijerlincoln You are right. The crushed car is a '63. When the new Continental came out in '61 it had curved side glass (like all cars have today). It marked one of the first uses of curved side glass in auto industry (the very first American production car to use that feature was the '57 Imperial). In '64 they made the Continental longer and decided to use straight glass as it gave more headroom. They did the same thing with the T-bird of '64!
Whether it had a motor & tranny in it or not, it was still a brand new Lincoln in '64.
And it makes me cringe just looking at the video, but I would like to really thank any persons who still own and restore these beautiful and tasteful American automobiles, If I had the means and the funds you could pretty much guess what would be in my garage.....climate controlled of course!!
the one that went in the crusher had different hubcaps than the one that he originally drove in, and you can see daylight thru the grill where like beerwagon said no trans or motor
@dmx011 and notice when the car is being picked up..the driver side door handles are on it..but when they throw it in the crusher..walla..there are no door handles on it ????

Jarren202 10 months ago
@Jarren202
There was a body - slumped over in the back seat having been shot by Oddjob. The trunk was filled with gold bullion belonging to the dead man.
Oddjob then returns the crushed car to the villain Auric Goldfinger who upon seeing the arrival of the crushed car comments:
"Forgive me, Mr Bond, but I must arrange to separate my gold from the late Mr Solo. As you said, he had a pressing engagement.."
