I´ve got a gibson explorer 76 reissue and I want to change pickups.I want a very good clean on neck and some dirty sound on bridge position:I´m between 57 classic/57 classic plus and these ones, seymour duncan ssh 55 seth lover(neck)/ssh 55b (bridge). What you recommend?have you try them?
Thanks. Both are great choices. I have 57s in my LP and Seth Lovers in this Epi Explorer. You can't go wrong with either. In the same class generally.
What footpedals etc. do you suggest for U2 songs. (U218 singles in general.) And I may be buying an explorer, so I'm asking people what they think of their explorer and so on. Please get back to me. Thanks! by the way you rock!!!
@2020cody: Thx! Watch my other videos. I use the Axe-Fx Ultra and the new Axe II. Best pedal for U2 in general for a reasonable price is the Line 6 HD500.
@CapoOfficial: Great guitar, excellent neck! But replace the pups. I suggest Seth Lovers for U2 stuff. It can be used for other songs. Not quite as full sounding as an LP.
Are you a music teacher by profession, or just a really great hobbiest? You have it down to the note at any rate! Great job! Also- do you have a string recomendation for most U2 music?
Are you a music teacher by profession, or just a really great hobbiest? You have it down to the note ate any rate! Great job! Also- do you have a string recomendation for most U2 music?
@genericxanex: Nope, can't read music and not an official teacher. Just a hobby. I don't think strings matter that much. D'Addarios, Ernie Balls, etc. are all good. I use a UK brand called Rotosound Roto Reds. Pros can tell the difference but I can't. Go by feel and what is comfortable. 0.11s on a strat for Edge stuff has more chime. Thx!!
Hey, you used to use the M13, now youre using the Axe FX... what do you think about the new POD HD500? It seems really cool.... and simulates the AC30 with microphonation.... deck tape etc.... and have all the effects of the M13? whats the best in your opinion? best regards
@raoninery: I've always used the Axe, but tried the M13 at one point to see what it was like. Other questions have long answers. Please first search the discussion threads on the U2_Guitar_Tutorials Google group. If you can't find the answer, then post your question on the group message board.
Excellent as always, Michael. One question about the Epi. All Epi explorers I've seen are "korina" and show wood grain. Yours doesn't seem to show any grain? Custom finish? Looks really nice.
hey man. i'm rather new to the whole delay effect thing. so urm how do i set the settings for this song if i have a boss dd7? also do you teach the higher parts of the song during the verse? btw cool vide :D
Note this is Part 1. Go to my channel page. I set up each tutorial series in a playlist. I have many videos that teach every note of this song and explain the effects. I don't have a Boss DD7, so I can't help you there.
Ralqh (Pat) has much more experience and is a huge U2 fan with many great covers. You will note that his version is multiple tracks with some mixing involved. Pat is very talented.
beautiful, you uploaded a cover of my dad's favorite u2 song on HIS birthday. plus i don't really need the tutorial i just repeated this video over and over until i got everything down. thanks again man and keep 'em coming.
great video!!!! what i noticed is that you play a B chord on the main riff, when in reality, edge plays a Bm. just putting my 2 cents in. except for that, you sound exactly like the edge. great work!
You might not notice it, but I'm lifting my middle finger on the B to make it a Bm. I'm playing a Bm chord. But also Edge does not often play the third on the G string in many songs. I think I read somewhere he doesn't like to play it. In fact, I'm strumming the E, A and D string only, so I'm lifting my middle finger just in case I hit the G string, but I usually don't hit it.
tks for that posting . it really makes life easier to see you play it . when and if i play this live, its the pup switching and foot pedal switching combined to the actual guitar playing that makes this U2 thing tricky.
good job, what type of distortion were you using or better yet what pedal if you were to have it outside of the axe effects unit to use. when you have time keep making videos, there awesome
For the chorus, no drive pedal. I chose an amp model that was closest to Edge's tone. I used the CA3+ LD amp model with drive up at 6.5. Combined it with a 4x12 Recto1 cab model and you get some very nice distortion. The key to the Axe is not to always rely on the drive models. Each amp has it's own drive sound if you turn the drive up high enough.
Sorry, missed this one. Logic is a DAW and audio recording/mixing software for the Mac. I create a midi channel track and program midi commands to control my rig. Logic is my "Dallas" and makes all program and control changes automatically in sync with the back track.
You are the closest thing to The Edge's sound on youtube.
bloc22 1 week ago
I'm still on the way ... still not there. I hope to get there someday.
The tone ... I can't get the right tone... but I'm happy to see that it's possible.
So I keep going on. And I am enjoying it.

What do you think of the Epi Explorer? Can it be used for songs that usae a Les Paul as well, like Zoo Station or Until The End of The World?

@bobbvis: It's just the bad lighting. It definitely has a natural wood grain. Video doesn't do it justice.
