My friend, who's a police officer, told me they need as much information as they can get so they're not at a gigantic disadvantage when they confront the robbers. Most people robbing a place are armed, he said. The less info police have the higher their disadvantage to the suspects.
OTOH he said the woman shouldn't say anything if she feels at all uncomfortable. He guaranteed that officers will get a message from that alone.
"Barracuda Barrage" from Episode 519. I woman came out on the deck of a houseboat to record her husband catching a barracuda, and the fish jumped out of the water and bit her on the side of her torso.
"We're trained in that situation to be as quiet as possible."
That's what really ticks me off about 911 operators. They don't freaking get it. You call and give them your address and all of the details, and they act like there is more and more that you need to tell them. While I understand that they are to keep you on the phone as long as they can, in this situation, it's unsafe to talk.
They want somebody to keep talking on the phone with someone else in the house who could hear them. How stupid is that? It's not like the operator could do anything through the phone if the suspects hurt the person.
he is lucky he didnt shoot her when she popped her head up if it was me i would have yelled im under the bed when he said he was the police so he would know i was there and be careful even if u tell ur neighbors they might want to rob u too
Yes, I aggree about yelling im under the bed, rather then popping your head up. For that house, a security system would fit perfectly. Security systems are great because they can detect an burglary, fire, or medical emergency, sound sirens and flashlighs, and send a signal to a security company to get help, wether you are home or not. Stick with local providers, larger companies like ADT and Brinks can sometimes rip you off buy selling you a cheap system, and then not installing it right.
Rescue 911 gives us lots of important steps on how to be safe by just giving us episodes to watch. Especially how to be safe and hiding from criminals. When you are invaded/burglarized, just hide in a place like under bed while calling 911.
Did they know exactly where the burglars were? No. They had to search for the burglars. In a brightly lit room, the burglars, if armed, would have a clear shot at the officers. In a darkened room, the burglars would not be able to clearly see the officers while the officers, with flashlights, can illuminate the burglars in a close and small area thus making them more accurate and more manageable targets. That's why officers are trained.
Holy cow I used to live in North Andover Ma. A paintball gun? are you kidding me if anything all you need to do is pull that on anyone robbing your house and have them shoot you with a real gun when they might not have
its not real. its a dramatisation, its supposed to make you scared enough to watch again. its not something that happens to everyone. don't get scared and buy enough guns to wipe out a high school
when i worked for ADT i was lucky i never had many incidents
but one night there was a domestic violence in progress and it upset those involved
had a 12 year old girl call in one day frightened at what to do if someone did break in despite the fact nothing had happened yet.
adt was considered a lot less stressful than 911 because we didn't deal with many real incidents on the phone -- we were lucky i guess when i worked there
dude, i totally feel for that girl! several years ago when i was just a freshman in highschool, i was home alone one night and some dude tried breaking into my house! he didnt get in though, bcause either the front porch light sensor came on or the fact that there was an officer a few blocks away when i called 911!

I have a new house and I'm scared to sleep in my new room at night Because somebody will try to come in my house My mom and daddy are kicking me out anyway even if I am scared to sleep at night
if they seen me run upstairs i would lock my door and open the window and hind under the bed to make them think i went out the window like in the cartoons lol
Actually, i heard from my stepmother (who's a policewoman) that you shouldn't hide under your bed when there's a break-in because that's usually the first place an intruder would look. the best place to hide would be in a locked room with a phone.
Well if the intruder knows you're in the house and is looking for you, then I can see why you might want to hide somewhere else. However, if the intruders are just robbing the house and assuming no one is home, they're probably not going check under the beds. I think a locked door might be more of a give-away that someone was home. There was another episode where a woman locked her bedroom door, and the burglars just kicked it open.
She said to the 911 operator that her door didn't lock. I probably wouldn't hide in the closet if I could get under the bed, if someone is robbing the house they're probably going to look in the closet for stuff to steal.
It wasn't her boyfriend that helped set up the roberry...hel-LO--do you really think she'd be dating him? *Rolls eyes* But yeah,I thought that I had real crummy friends...boy, do I feel better now! lol How scary that muct have been for her...and how completely messed up that people she had trusted would put her through that!
This reminds me of something simular that happend to me back in Chattanooga. I guess if someone breaks into your house and you're stuck in your room, the closet and under the bed are about the only places to hide. I guess most people go for the bed since burglars are probably going to look through the closets for stuff to steal.
I'd be afraid burglars would look in the trunk for somthing to steal. And if the bathroom door were locked, that would be kind of obvious. A blanket would be obvious too, but it worked for that one woman who was on Rescue 911.
thank you

I felt the same way about the hostage negotiator when I was a hostage in my bank.
The police never understood why I felt they were the only link to my sanity, but I did.
The guy used me as a shield between himself and police then shot at them.
I've never been so glad that the police don't try to shoot the suspect when a hostage is front of him-the way TV cops do.

They need to make sure the victim is okay and that the victim stays calm, and they also need to stay updated on where the suspects are in the house.

I'd be more upset with the dingbat robbers than the people trying to help.
I was in a robbery. No matter what the people trying to help did, the robbers are the only ones to blame for what happens.
If they never robbed the house in the first place, rescuers wouldn't be in the picture.
IMO the robbers are the only ones to blame.
