I'm sorry, but I'm with the they-should-never-have-gotten-back-together crowd. I'm not saying they're not good anymore, but they left off in a perfect position to just be remembered as they were - the best band of their time. And Perry's greatest contribution was Lollapalooza. He laid the stage that the 90's stood on.
People always want to see their favorite bands stick around to relive their past, but you gotta move on. What's the new shit now? That's what matters... I know Perry would agree.
Best band of their era and best live tune ever. I dunno but when I first heard this on the XXX album it just spoke to me. The studio version at the end of "Nothing's Shocking" owns too. Lollapalooza 91, they ripped into it for over 10 minutes. I was lucky enough to see Perry 3 times in 12 months between Lolla 91, their tour for "Ritual" (the 13 month tour that killed the band according to Perrry) and a Porno for Pyros set at Lolla 92. Great memories that probably interest no one but me =).
When you see Perry then you'd've never thought he'd still be alive today. What a front-man he was. And hey, come on kids, and old rockers, he has enough moments in him still. He's always compelling viewing, addiction or cured.
I missed the Dallas show a month or so after this one but saw them several times for Ritual... It's nice of them to tour now but come on. Seriously kids.
Seriuosly one of the most exciting bands of our time. I'm 40. Saw them live a bunch back in 89-91..before everyone started to shit on Cincinnati for the riots and shit..but yea. I never did get to my Rage Against the Machine concert I had tickets for. Bogarts owes me one. Ok. What were we talking about? Eric Avery, Perry Ferrall, Steve Perkins and Dave Navarro are...James Addiction since that's my real first name.
Was honored to witness this tour in August 1988 at The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Student Union. To this day, the most violent show at which I've had the pleasure of participating. No offense to Pantera, Soundgarden, Voivod, Faith No More, Pearl Jam, Mudhoney and Smashing Pumpkins, all of whom I've seen in a bar (or similar) setting.
@broker010 I saw them that same tour in Madison @ Wally Gators which was a teen dance club at the time. Didn't know there music @ the time but have been a life long fan since.

Thanks so much for another shitty phone vid. Get a proper camera or dont bother us. Jane's Addiction is awesome, but this is a disservice to their fans.
@warpcrafter A phone with a camera in 1988? I would say whatever recording device this was done with was very modern tech for the time, and much thanx should go to the person who could hold a large camera up for 10+min.
shows at st. andrews were always the whip. saw bands there that u have to go to a stadium now to see. never more than 20 feet from the stage. thanks for this vid.
@VENUSxINxFAUXxFURSx1 I was there. It was a trip to say the least. To this day I have never been blown away by a concert like this one. I was 19 at the time. I am 42 now. Sunday night, December 4, 1988.

It wasn't just the dope thats who Perry was he's mellowed out a lot these days. I wonder what happened with him and Casey Niccoli they were perfect together now he's got some anorexic young glam asian chick what happened?
dude you're full of shit! look up Casey Niccoli right now she's alive and well living in Cali w/ her daughter. Don't make shit up real fans know about this shit and we'll call u out
Although the Video quality is shit. Perry ABSOLUTELY has the best stage presence I have ever seen live! And I love the time they take for the interaction with the fan's
@salvinni I know what you mean,man...not trying to encourage anyone else,but...
Iggy Stooge was with Nico one night, and Iggy was clean, and she said "Jimmy,Jimmy,Jimmy, you are good, you are very good, but you have to take dah poison,Jimmy..you must take dah POISON,you under-shtand,me,Jimmy!!".
I am seriously not condoning it,and she was wrong, because Iggy had been there, done that, and had the T-shirt,but she understood the nature of the performer going out on a limb, right out there on the edge
I was just wondering...i thought that looked like the main floor at St Andrews Hall. Wow, didn't know anyone had video of this...thanks to whoever posted it
@SneekySnakeOO i can see the difference but it still sounds like janes addiction to me. maybe its cuz ive only recently got into JA songs like price i pay and suffer some has got that early JA vibe
@added23 your right about that. i dont condone drugs... but they do wonders for music. janes addicton is a fine example. Perry is a poet with or with out them though....
It was the first time they played it in 18 years which is badass for you! Saw them the night before in Indianapolis, stellar performance by both bands
word has is that this isn't the same Navarro...the real Dave Navarro seen here died in car accident on some road in England like four years after the band became famous replaced by a look-alike to avoid potential rioting from grief stricken fans.
Hmph. I'm not sure who I was thinking of. Maybe I'm mixing his death up with when he moved over to the Chili Peppers. I dunno. It HAS been a long time since I was hanging on the street corner showing off handstands on a skateboard! 23 year...Sh!t.
this was the first time I saw janes addicion live,Im the dude that got on stage 7 times for this song .....that's me...I will be at the next concert in the D,with nin .........YES!
ive seen alot of janes and this seems like the best fucking show they ever put out...aside from anson ford....unreal, how the fuck does perry seem so out of it (ON in my opinion), yet hit every note w/ the echo perfect.....JUST fucking AMAZING!!! I LOVE JUANES ADDICTION!!

oh snap someones cool you sound like the type to go around talking shit in e-mails and when it comes face to face your need a bunch a friends or some weapons or a bunch of friends with weapons..
lol i was born this year but i'm not one of those people who say im their biggest fan i like them tho but i think this vid is amazing i was like in the womb haha
That's a pretty funny thing to say, considering you were only seven years old at the time. That's not much difference than not being born. I heard these guys for the first time at an Alternative Music bar when I was 20. Maybe it was the drink, maybe it was the weed, but I was so blown away I kept going back to the place just to hear them. Finally I went out and bought Nothings Shocking. :P
I'm sorry, but I'm with the they-should-never-have-gotten-back-together crowd. :P

yeah, so? Does it make you better than us because this was made before I was born. I was born in 1992, which by then they had broken up. Who cares?

Please tell me Perry is not just wearing stockings with suspenders. That makes this clip especially ugly.

Concerts just aren't as "absorbing" as they used to be. Just remember that a good dream never dies. Continue the Dream!!!
