Don't use the economy as an excuse. It has always been a tough road for me in the city of Detroit. I have been flat broke but I never robbed/killed, I value life. I walked around the suburbs and collected bottles, did odd jobs, etc. And if I were going to steal, it wouldn't be from a ppl who are in bad shape as I. Also, many today don't even try to be good parents. Reason: it is alot of work. It is so much easier for a parent that is carrying all the load to push the autopilot button.

My children had very minimal contact with some of their own relatives because I didn't want them exposed 2 certain 'unwholesome' traits. When they did visit, I would have a hard time with retreiving stolen items, or stopping them from trying 2 fight my kids or foul, jealous language...I was called an overprotective parent;my kids, spoiled brats. But 15 years later there is NO comparison in the results of their lives. So sad.

But on the other hand,once a child comes of age ,they know right from wrong and they make their own choices.I came from a broken home. Both my parents were drug addicts,but I chose to rise above my circumstances. Being a parent is called knowing what's going on with your child that means knowing where they are, who they are with and how to get in contact with them if you need too. First let me say I luv your videos I am a single parent black male and I have had both my kids since they were 6months old. I refuse to let them grow up the way I did. At all times I know where they are an who they are with. Cycle has to be broken some where. @kambridge967 The thing is, this is more than a matter of simply catching the guy that did it. This is a problem endmic in poor commuinities throughout the country. A LOT of underlying issues must be addressed (poverty, drugs, teen sex, single parent homes) before this cycle is broken. Remember, many of these cases go unsoved because many in these communities will not cooperate with the police, so your statements come across as kind of naive no disrespect.
