When you dry fire use a snap cap if you dont the firing pin will go forward. Also you are loosing 10% grip with your left hand thumb where it is. It needs to be on your right hand thumb, this will increase accuracy and reduce recoil.
@Leff4Dead34 unless you have one of those crossman sticky targets. as long as no dirt is on the bb and most possibly not deformed(crossman sticky targets has that nice silicon-like pad that sticky as well) you will be able to use them
Fired my friend's 1911 couple days ago and get all rounds on targets black area. I haven´t shoot over six years with real gun, only airsoft pistols and rifles.
Every year it is getting harder and harder get gun here in Finland. Now they are again tightening gun laws after what happened in Norway and even now it will take over 2 years get pistol. So I keep training whit my airsoft guns. I am maybe too late start with guns now but still keep trying to get 1911 and some rifle.
Finally someone who understands! Most gun enthusiast are too ignorant to give airsoft a chance. Most that I've spoken with believe that airsoft is just a children's game. I know that your video addresses the area of dry firing but airsoft also provides another advantage. That's force on force training. Having the fear of getting shot really adds to the stress level. However it must be taken carefully or else you may develope some lethal training scars.
I couldn't agree more, but I'm in kind of a opposite direction process I'm getting a Walther Lever Action CO2 rifle because I would like to get a real one in .357 or .44 magnum. But since it is a long and very complicated process to get a license to get a gun in Switzerland (compared to the US) I wanted to try out the handling and use of it before a go through all this bureaucracy.
@7redi I think trying out an airsoft pistol that relicates the real thing is a wonderful way to see if that's what you really want. The HK USP has been a "Wishlist" item, but after shooting it in Airsoft, it's now moved to a "Must have" Lol! Take care,
awesome point of view. I will vouch for the improved shooting just from dry firing and airsoft. I believe it's all in the trigger pull and even dry firing the airsoft (the only weapon i have with a hammer). My shooting really improved and i saved quite a bit of money on .40 caliber ammo. thanks
The only important thing you missed here is the importance of dry firing in order to achieve better trigger control. Trigger control is important when firing accurate so it would also apply to your airsoftgun.
I like you take on the concept of using airsoft as a training tool - there are so many areas that can be perfected by training with airsoft.
@petfrogg Yes, trigger control is vastly improved with Dry firing. I touched on it lightly but should have said more about it. Thanks for the comment~
Hey Sootch do you ever use snap caps in your real 1911's when you dry fire?Another for you,do you ever come to Greenville,Anderson area?Got a very nice range kinda stuck in the middle.A few guys bring their class3 weapons.Shot me a line if you ever want to check it out.Dewey's Gun Range.
@profsat5 I've been dry firing for years without snap caps, even though I have them, and have never had any issues. From everything I've read, it's fine without Snap caps. I live about 10 mins from Dewey's but I've never been. I'd like to stop by and check it out so I'll let you know. I usually shoot at the Pickens Co Shooting Range for rifle but shoot most of my pistol/Shotgun at the house. Take care~
@zunedog31 Yes, Dept.'s would require officers to have the safety on for liability, but a Glock or other Striker fire pistols would not have an external safety and would be in ready mode. Thanks~
@elboxoluncho I cut my thumb in half with a skill saw once. When it happened I just said Dammit, thought about what a stupid mistake it was and looked around to see if anyone saw me do it. It must be an instinctive reflex to react like our pride is insulted before we acknowledge that we've maimed ourselves. Whatever, shit happens.
I've been meaning to say this for a while now, but, Sootch, your videos are amazing.
I like Nutnfancy and everything, but when I need some info, or just an opinion on something, I go to your channel first. Though I'm not a huge air soft guy, I definitely see where you're coming from and I may give it a shot. (pun intended)
If you say you like a gun, then the chances are I will too. You and I have similar tastes and I just wanted to say thanks!
@jonS1017 Hey, Thanks for the inspiring comment! It keeps me doing what I do. It took me a while to warm up to Airsoft, so I understand your reserve. I've found I'm training more than ever. Take care my friend, Sootch00
I like watching the you tube videos of guys shooting to see if they are shooting with both eyes open. Most vids you can't tell because of camera angle. Also how bad they are flinching. Nice video.
@Iam1uglyguy the reason why not reuse airsoft bbs is that after you use them once their are not 100% smooth and polished like new ones. And if your BBs arent smooth and polished they will damage your hop-up rubber. Also as mentioned before they can crack inside the gun.
@AirsoftSootch00 DO NOT reuse airsoft BBs in a high quality airsoft gun such as the KWA you have. These airsoft guns have a hop-up system which applies spin to the BB to provide lift. By using the same BBs over again, which may have deformed or collected dirt and debris, you risk the chance of damaging the hop-up or causing a jam. Destroying the hop-up rubber will lead to severe loss of accuracy and range. Also use high quality BBs. Just a heads up:)
@Iam1uglyguy don, bb's are like 3cents for 10shots.. best to only use new bb's. otherwise the hopup and barrel will get dirty and you will loose accuracy and have to replace the hopup rubber
@1xXitachiXx1 The Airsoft tends to be a lighter trigger pull. Atleast with the guns that I have shot. It would be difficult to replicate each real steel with Airsoft I would think. Thanks~

If you put some sort of padding behind the target with a Totes bin under it, would that catch the BB's so you could reuse them? Just wondering.
Iam1uglyguy 7 months ago
@Iam1uglyguy it isnt a good idea to reuse the bbs, because the stress put on them can make them crack after 2 or more uses
