  • Just today, a cab got into an accident with a bus from my company. And 12 hours ago I was commenting on this! Pedicabs and tour buses don't have to drive like maniacs in the streets of NY like yellow cabbies.

  • These cab drivers act like they own the road. At 0:25 you can clearly see how fuckin' stupid these cab drivers are, passing a bus on the right side thinking he can sneak by.Only an asshole tries to challenge a bus!

  • If that was a pedicab, it'd be under the bus. Not beside it with a dent in the bumper

  • i love pedi cabs

  • Pedicab rides in NYC are FREE! These smelly illegal immigrants are unlicensed and cannot force you to pay. Cops laugh at them, and will back you up. Try it I get free rides all the time!

  • i see u r soo smart, now listen 2 me, we r regulated and licensed, nobody can laugh at us, sorry man there will not be free rides 4 u, sorry. actually there have never been free rides, so we will charge u get ready lol, i will laugh at u

  • its the new pedicab drivers that causes accident now , they never been trained by the owners and letting them transporting people in the middle of NYC , thats the main reason of these accidents but when u are careful and u know what u are doing and especially when u stay away from the YELLOW CABS u will be fine.. this is MOCEN thanks for the video STAN

  • Never a death in NYC.. boston? Not as much.

  • Tour guide stan, not the first death. The pedi-cabs in New York City have a HIGHER accident rate than 13,000 taxi cabs. This industry must be regulated, and quickly. In new york we have 9 people in intensive care units tonight as a result of pedicab accidents... Tavern on the Green has BANNED pedicabs. This is a great industry, New York needs to protect it.

  • B,

I agree with 2 points and disagree on 2.

The industry must be regulated soon.

The accident rate is probably higher than with taxis (RATE not NUMBER).

You are wrong about deaths unless you have new info. Please send me links of any US deaths & I will recant!

Likewise link your claim of 9 in ICUs. A taxi hit 2 pedicabs last week and hurt several.

NYCPOA's research says the Seattle death is the first in the USA.

I saw pedicabs at Tavern at 6 PM on 8/31. They are NOT banned.

  • Stan, they keep them outside tavern. Certainly the taxi cabs in new york have far more many accidents than pedi-cabs, there are 13,000 of them... they actually have more accidents by rate or number than any taxi cab company in the united states. The Pedicab injuries in new york almost always involve taxi cab collisions. The danger is caused by how many of the pedi-cab drivers actually drive, not by any other innate danger of the industry.

  • When driven correctly the pedi-cab is very safe. There are too many driving it dangerously. Driving a pedicab is not the same as driving a bicycle. It takes some training.

  • Look up Pedicab death Seattle Washington.

  • It's true. A new driver came down a steep hill on a cheap Chinese trike with one gear and a leather-strap brake. My Main Street 'cab has 21 speeds, disc brake, brake lights & turn signals.

Pedicabs have been on U.S. streets since the mid-70s. This first death could have been avoided had the owner bought Main Street or Cycles Maximus. Instead, it looks like he went cheap, which cost a life.

Pedicabs like the one in Seattle should be outlawed. Thanks, Aboxatax, for posting on this.

  • @tourguideStan

I think honestly, the whole ordeal could have been avoided had the kid who caused the accident been properly trained. I actually rode for the same company a year after that accident happened, and I was told ONE thing that made sense: Don't ride down any hill you can't ride up. I've been through the intersection where the death occurred SEVERAL times and the hill this kid went down was on par with one of the streets in San Francisco.

  • @thevikingwarrior11

Basically, you don't have to outlaw those types of pedicabs in Seattle. The industry is nowhere close to thriving like the one in New York, and there are still a lot of companies struggling to get their pedicab companies off the ground. Even the corporate pedicab from Boston is struggling to keep their employees through the winter here. Don't just assume something is true just because you're on the outside of the box.

  • It doesn't look like kind of accident that would injure anoyone..Imagine if that taxi was pedicab. How safe would be the passengers in that accident?... Just a Cabbie..

  • Today I drove my car west in midtown as a cab kept trying to pass. He finally found a wide spot and ROARED left, giving me the finger. A block later his fare was getting out; all that anger for 4 car-lengths!

Some cabbies ALWAYS try to pass, feeling too powerful for safety. Pedicab drivers feel exposed, so we avoid danger. There has never been a fatality on a pedicab in the whole USA, despite the taxi lobby's stance that we are unsafe. That accident wouldn't happen to most pedicabs.

  • Awesome! Perfect Moment!

  • Fuck Christine Quinn!

  • I don't know How you were able to catch this moment but It's awesome and you've made good comments good Video.

From The other Pedicab driver in manhattan;)

  • As usual, Stan the Funny old bone

    Ahmed( the egyptian Driver)

    See u on the Road

  • It's funny how we are going back to simply... the wheel.

  • Wheels make life wonderful. I've ridden across whole states supported basically by two wheels and a thin steel frame.

    Tourguide Stan
