Quinton Ganther is now our starting half-back. He is pretty good too. I will always be a Clinton Portis fan though. I hope he comes back to the Washington Redskins next year but I really doubt that is going to happen.
I am trying to find a silver lining. Perhaps this is what was needed, the putrid performances this year, to make the Dan realize that he is in way over his head, and to turn our team over to someone who is capable of actually running a competitive NFL franchise. Not a Vinny Cerrato, but a real football saavy GM, with Snyder finally realizing that he needs to be a "silent" owner. I can dream, can't I?
our offensive line is trash. casey raubach needs to leave. too many stupid penalties in critical situations. our secondary cant catch a damn ball or tackle. learn to tackle like london fletcher!!!! SO.....we cant turn the ball over and we cant protect a drop back passer......hmmmmm i wonder why we suck.
Big John..I have been a fan since Sonny Jergeson, Billy Kilmer, Larry Brown, Charley Taylor. The Skins are too predictable in their play calling. It is though the defense is listening into the huddle.Even Sonny could move around in the pocket better than Campbell....and you know how slow that could be...There are few powerhouses from day of Riggins, and Portis up the middle does not meet that qualification. Portis needs to used more like Larry Brown, delayed sweeps/passes out the backfield etc.
Riggo was the best short yardage back ever! 4th and 1 3rd and 1 Man even 3rd 4 Gibbs would run him! 82 to 84 I would take the Diesel and Hogs Over any NFL team running attack .
Yeah we gotta get Portis more carries but how can we do that?? he's already 8th in the NFL with rushing attempts with 91 rushes, On the other end Jason Campbell is 15th in the league with 141 pass attempts that sounds like a good balance of course adding in Marcus Mason's and Ledell Betts attempts. It comes down to Blocking Mike Sellers is playing for the other team, our O line is shot now that Samuels is gone. What are we gonna do?
Riggo, you hit it on the head: Zorn is too structured and hasn't developed into a coach that can adjust to the talent on the team. That said, he isn't the reason for the team's sad start of 2009. The reason is the talent on the field...which has been the reason for 15 years. The head coach hasn't mattered, and there have been some greats. Finally, this team lacks passion and comraderie. There isn't excitement. But I digress, the problem is Cerrato, and Snyder for keeping him.
Zorn is in over his head. He was a good QB coach, and he maybe could have been a good coordinator, but hiring him as a head coach was ludicrous. Just insane.
I was wondering what your take is on how free agency has effected fan loyalty in the NFL? Player turnover has always been a factor in the NFL - but the current rate of turnover has soured me to the point that I don't care about the Redskins anymore (thats saying a lot). Rivalries no longer mean anything, because of the frequent changes in the roster. Look at the empty seats at Fed Ex field - did you ever dream that they would be filled with Steelers fans?
Running the ball would've been nice when we had an offensive line. Too bad. At least now we may have a chance to finally draft a good O-lineman now in the first 5 picks.
Then again, maybe we'll draft a linebacker in the first, a TE in the 2nd, and a WR in the 3rd. We could always bring back Wynn and Daniels next year.
Keep the vids coming big John...Hey man nice to here you say something good about CP! I wish you two would make a video together man, that would be great!!!
I tried to play like you did when I was a kid. You are my hero "old timer!" Thanks for all the awesome football! Forrest (former #44) fullback

Jesus. I'll tell you what Riggins, I been watching you since I was a kid. You're as good on youtube as you are a ball player.
