BROOKLYN FOREVER, BABY!!!!! I love my fuckin' borough! (Even though the yup-pups--late-90's/early-2000's yuppies--have gentrified pretty much most of the southwest portion of Kings County into what it is now.) Riding the S today may not be as exciting as it was 20-25 years ago, but I am glad it's still around. So much Brooklyn rail history associated with that line (Malbone Street, 1918; Fulton EL connection; etc.) It's kinda fun telling these "swag" kiddies about riding the "S" 2 decades ago.
i rember one time they were going to eliminate the franklin avenue shuttle tats good they didnt elimnate that line it is one of the oldest subway lines in nyc
Man, I miss Dean Street! What a junky station! Hell, the whole Shuttle line up until the renovations of the late-90's! But I still loved it! Those crusty-ass wooden platforms (the way they would rumble when the S was coming!), the busted lights, Botanic Garden! Lol! I really loved it. And I really, REALLY miss it. Riding the S today is like riding the LIRR out on the island. It's nice, but there's no excitement anymore.
Man that Dean Street station used to be grimy! Matter of fact, so was Park Place and Franklin Ave. Crackheads always trying to sell you a transfer. White folks don't play when they move in.

Cool! Last I had read a while back, this shuttle was slated to be retired and the El structure torn down. Glad to see it's still in service.
