They were the disco version of Labelle and the album Marie ,Sherrie and Susaye was great to play before you hit the Disco nights! I have lost my vynal copy and would love to own again ! any suggestions . Kevin
I never knew these Supreme's! This is a great song! I feel the real true story of the Supremes has never been told and I hope some future writer and director will want make a move about all of them.
LOve LOve LOve this record. A great song and the ladies sound Hot. This rocked us in college in 1977. The entire album was top notch. Should have been huge.
I played trumpet on this song, and a few others on this album. This song was was written by my friend HAROLD BEATTY, and the production of BRIAN HOLLAND gave it energy. It was fun doing this album, mostly recorded at H.B. BARNUM"s studio. Some great musicians on this joint.
WOW! Can't you share some more of those memories here? I know the fans would LOVE to hear about it! Scherrie is over here on November 13th with the FLOS performing at the Apollo, London with Thelma Houston, Brenda Holloway & Chris Clark backed by Jack Ashford's Funk Brothers
very interesting - got any more info to share about recording these tracks? do you recall any that were recorded but not included on Mary, Scherrie and Susaye?
@byrd1nypa You'll be glad to know that confirmed by "Hip-o-Select" in March 2011 they will be releasing "The Supremes This Is The Story The 70's Albums, Vol. 2, The Scherrie Payne Years" and all three post Jean Terrell albums and some extra cuts from the volt will be released!
@byrd1nypa MAN!!! God bless you for this!!! I would ove to have been a fly in the creating process of this and see it through up to this day. OK - I was only 7 years old when this came out, but I was appreciating music - my dad was a bass player and grandmother played serious piano
Memories, I used play this song before I went out to party. The voices in this line-up of supremes were great and deserve their place in history, Thanks Mary, Scherrie and Susaye for keeping the legacy going with great voices.
Is there a video of the song "I Don't Want to Be Tied Down" which was on this same album, Mary, Scherrie and Susaye? I always loved that song. The tracks on the LP arelighter on that track than the rest of that side, I played it so many times! Love this line up and this song!
I'm With YOU! "I Don't Want To Be Tied Down" BANGED!!!!!! It was perhaps MY favorite! I TOO played it and played it and PLAYED IT! They ROCKED!!!!! HARD! "I" wish that THAT had've been released in some form!
Thanks for posting this. :) I remember playing this song and its album over and over in spring-summer 1977. They weren't "frontliners" anymore, but even in '76/'77 The Supremes always had the best gowns, moves, and hair! This song could've -- and should've -- been well-promoted and a big hit, it had the stuff.
What a joyous, happy, beautiful recording, great video too. This song is the s*@t... out of this world!!!!!!

This song and "Sweet Dream Machine" was the best from this album. They sounded great on the whole album though.

Scherrie sings lead. It's the second track on side two of "Mary, Scherrie, and Susaye."

That was my favorite song of the album too! Think it would have made a good single. This came out in December '76.
