that octaver seems to work reall well, I have realized a lot that is technique though. emphasis of fundamental over harmonics in his marlowe's playing here make the octaver track well despite it being a totally analog octave pedal.
Hi, what gear do u use? (amplifier, speakers,...) would love to have this question answered. I'm looking for some good speakers to use with my laptop, and some kind of studioPod. what do you recommend me?
@MarloweDK Its awesome! :). Your playing and talking is so inspiring!
I've just looked at your video with the MXR envelope filther. Im currently searching the market for envelope filthers and octavers. Do you recommend the MXR envelope filther? - is it your favorite, or is there anything you like more?
When it comes to octavers, I'm currently facing a choice between the MXR octaver and the EBS OctaBass - have you any experiences with the EBS? Which one would you choose?
Hi Marlowe! Please record some video about slick lick,i love it:)Sometimes in your lessons I had problem with slick lick when I have leardned;)Cheers from sunny Poland now:)
@coucou7863 this guy is most probably 10 times better than 90% of bassists out there, he knows everything and can play heaps of styles. This isnt my favourite vid of his either but he's awesome, watch more stuff before you judge

Might seem a stupid question but can you alter which direction the Octaver goes in? As in from a lower or higher options, in that way it could be practical thats all.
Look at the POG. I've heard that goes up an octave or down an octave. I may be wrong, but I thought a bass player in a jazz band I was in in high school said his POG did that.
the pog from electro harmonics can do -1 and + 1 octave. there is also a smaller cheaper version; the micro pog. check it out, if you like the sound; it's a nice pedal
@onixtheone theres a lot of difference between the two, too much to fit into one comment lol. I'd say copy and paste your comment in the google search bar and you should come up with a plethora of information that you're looking for.
Sounds great. I just received my MXR octave pedal yesterday, i love it. It sounds very warm and throaty and tracks really well. And the Mid-knob is a welcome feature.
I used to have the Mutron pedal! What a great sound but, you had to have the right amp or sound system to make sure it cut through. I still use a wah-wah every now and again. EBS makes a decent Envelope Filter that has a good iniital pickup. But, with the low B's on my Lawrence and Sukop the initial attack sometimes gets lost. Oh well! I'm still working on my response video for your stuff! :) When you coming to Hawaii so we can we do one together brah?:) Laters:)
@Barathrun Well, i dont have a strict program, sometimes im transcribing stuff, other times doing some scale/chord exercises, then i maybe have to learn tunes to play with my bands or jsut got a new interesting book on a subject - right now I'm into "tetrachords".
@MarloweDK Yes! Tetrachords rock... I got a book talking about them a couple years ago, but I didn't really get into it until recently. It really helps put the modes into a better perspective and the linear thinking is super useful, especially for a 4 string player. :D

This 'MXR Octaver-P Bass' combination is awesome!!! 8) Great lesson too as usual but about the use of the Gm pentatonic scale, isn't it easier to see it as playing a Cm penta. with a D (2nd) instead of a Eb (minor 3rd) ?
@MarloweDK Of course.I meant maybe thinking in terms of mode (and then considering everything from C) might be more simple.I see what you mean but whenever I can, I try to stay away from licks;I know G is C's 5th and how it sounds if I start from or stop on that note but i'm definately thinking C when I'm playing Gm penta over Cm.
@Fjord76 I understand, but since we as bassplayers are so founded in the rootnote positions, transposing the scale to other locations gets you out of that frame of mind, and it helps me to sudden play "hip" phrases:-) "Licks" (or at least patterns you have under yourfingers) can be your friends, and a zillion blues players cant be that wrong;-)

i have a question in regards to how to make a video using a direct plugin
all of my current videos are just by using my amp at home
yet i recently got pro tools

do you know if there's anyway to do this?
thank you so much, you are a great inspiration
