The real people are "real" because they are non- actors, but that doesnt mean they are not 'acting'.. Harmony has said that there was a script for gummo, obviously the scenes were set up, and the characters are not nessicarily based in reality. I can understand that he's probably upset to have been casted as a gay character in Gummo at such a young age, although I'm not sure if he's actually a homosexual or not. @gunnare123 Ask Harmony Korine, there is little to no meaning in this movie. There are scenes or vignettes that are illustrating this very vague story but it's really supposed to act as art. Stretching your senses, it has shades of hyperrealism and surrealism in it and you often find yourself disgusted and compelled simultaneously (which in artistically is considered an achievement by many). You can't give the movie one single meaning or for that matter any meaning at all.

This film was amazing. So raw and true in a very creepy, uncomfortable, sickening way. Makes me think of Gary, Indiana, in the '90s. KIDS, that was just kind of....I don't know, it annoyed me, surprisingly. Gross, but not in the interesting way like Gummo.

This was the most disturbing film I have seen in my entire life, but at the same time one of the most truthful and moving things I have ever seen. I have never been so repulsed by a movie and at the same time I've never been so fascinated by one. It's just that certain parts of it just felt so damn real, like they weren't really acting...that really got to me. I particularly found this character quite interesting-I pittied him especially. I guess it was his whole persona I found depressing.
