whats the difference betwwen this and a 72 standard bug? my steering column sheard into 2 pieces today while i was driving! scary!

loosen nut, dont take it off all the way. then pull on steering wheel to loosen.. remove nut. no steering wheel in face risk..

How do you call the part that's worn out in the video. I have a 1973 mexican vw beetle. I have the same problem. Where can I find that part? Can't find it in my country. Thanx for your help.

Thanks Scott! This is exactly where I am in my 74! I am also replacing my steering shaft coupling, but I have a Riveted-on one now, Break out the drill!
