First heard this song when i was 8 years old. I am now 67.It was in the film Mother Riley Headmistress. Will never tire of listening to the Luton Girls Choir.
It's really a blessing to here such a wonderful singing. Please, restore a song by Nino Rota from The Legend of a Glass Mountain and/or help me to find it. Thanks in advance!
I love this song, but you mistakenly said it was composed by Edwin Excell. There is another song he composed with the same title, but different words. The song the girls are singing is by Richard Morgan & Edith Temple and is sung by many artists including Aled Jones and Josef Locke. It's a classic!
@im4everjoyful I have always loved this song and remember singing it in my Sunday School Choir in the early 50's, I have a copy of the original composition, and it is by REGINALD MORGAN not Richard as stated in previous reviews.
Brings back memories of my childhood and listening to Family Favourites on a Sunday. Where could I purchase a CD of this beautiful choir? I hope someone out there can tell me.
These girls had such lovely voices. To me they evoke the best of the music of the 1930s/1940s but unfortunately they don`t seem to have a place in the modern era. A great shame. Thanks a lot for posting.
How sad that this choir had to fold. This song was very popular, I remember it well from when I was a boy in Luton. The choir gave Luton a real sense of identitiy Now gone alas! Johnnie P
evokes a lost time when life was simpler and more innocent .... I remember the choir performing on radio in the fifties .... unfortunately radio does not seem to have a place for music like this to day.
Wonderfully fresh and inspiring recording. Makes me appreciate my extreme good fortune, particularly the friendship of my 12 beautiful pigs. One day they won't be here and I will only have the memory of them to keep with me. In the meantime I count my blessings indeed to be able to share my life with them.

Evokes many memories - of a different era, and of a time when our values were so very fine.
