  • Awesome awesome! Thank you so much for the commentary. Helps me in deciding what type of "adventure" bike I'll be purchasing.

  • Planning a trip to california, would love to know what road that was... Our GS would love it

  • @CRAZZYDUDE069 But that would put you on a semi remote road at night near Big Bear CA.

  • Thanks for the great review - I've been considering a GS and it was nice to see a thorough road review as that is where I'll be spending the vast majority of my time. Most GS reviews lean toward its off road capability, but coming off a Honda VFR800 my quest is a truly comfortable all-day bike that I can enjoy in the twisties as well.

Just FYI Sargent Seats is based in Florida not Colorado (no biggie) and they do make comfortable seats of utmost quality backed by peerless customer service...

  • Nice review. Have you had a chance to ride the 2010 model? Also, any idea how the GSA differs in ride vs a GS? Thanks.

  • Press intro for the 2010 in about a month. Will be the same bike with added power, maybe a bit different powerband. GSA is a bit heavier, will ride about the same. MVR

  • Well, you loved how the GS handled, so I was concerned that they would screw that up. Looking forward to your review of that bike.

  • I don't think they touched a thing as far as handling goes. Only more power from the heads and a new windshield and something like new reflectors. Should be same bike with more power. MVR

  • If the windshield rattle bothers Chris, tell him to pull the bottom two screws from the windshield, remove the hinge pins that the screws went into, wrap them with teflon tape and reassemble.

BMW addressed this in 09 I believe, so if you order new pins this will fix it as well. Teflon tape is cheaper though.

Unbiased and thorough on road review.

If your ever near Saint Louis, perhaps we could work something out for a few days of muddy, gravely, R1200GS fun!

  • Thanks! You got it! Off to FL to ride the 1000 RR on track in two days! MVR

  • I got my R1200 GS just today, and I have to say the accelerations is a full 9 for a big this size bike running at 8 k revs.

  • Agree with everything in these 3 videos, except the lights. I've just ordered a HID 50w kit (both low and high beam) as I find the sudden drop off of the light too much.

Great review - nice to have the commentary whilst riding.

  • No, just the standard headlight.

    MR

  • Great as allways. What is the off road test for this bike?

  • We had been talking to BMW about a test, including off-road, but it fell through. Yes, it would be fun!

    MVR

  • Great thorough review - just picked up a GS myself and agree with all of your points.

Look like some great roads there in CA - wish the review had been in daylight.

    Thanks,

    MC

  • Good review as always!
