I really don't see a point to raising animals just for fur. Fur AND meat? Absolutely. Just don't waste anything. Besides, there's a higher profit margin when you use everything.

I have sold my rex rabit furs and the people who bought them came to my house and watched how my rabits were kept and how I killed them it is up the the buyers of the fur to make shure that the furs come from farms that do not treat the animals badly. Also I did not breed the rabits for the fur i raised them for the meat but why throw away somthing that i get paid 10 dollars a pelt for that would be stupid.

It's a business and I guarantee the survival of the species through proper game management. Death is part of life. Deal with it bunny huggers. I don't let animals suffer unnecessarily either. It's as humane as possible. Hell, I release accidental catches such as domestic dogs and cats from my traps EVERY season, UNHARMED.

The video featuring the ragged fox with the artificial leg was not a fur farm but a plant which collected scents from animals to be used by hunters. The animals were not killed but their fluids were collected. The fur of these animals was much to poor and scraggly in appearrance to be used for a fur garment or even for trim. Use common sense.

This is problematic for me. This suggests that we CAN use, in this case, fur, only IF the animals are 'humanely' treated. We cannot 'humanely' treat any animal. There is no excuse for animal products, no matter how well animals are cared for. We cannot ignore the fundamental point that animal exploitation abuses animals anyway, they may feel less pain however they are still killed. When the protesters were yelling Shame On You, this is wrong. We do not want alienate people we need to help them.

The horrors of fur farming are incredibly cruel but producing leather is just as bad. Leather is not just a by - product. I would say if you want to wear fur you need to know where it came from. When watching people clubbing the animals on the head, I dont particularly feel much horror. I have been to my mothers country, where people rely on killing animals this way because they are too poor to have any other means. China, I am not surprised, does this, but I am fairly certain once the animal is skinned they eat it. They say "We will eat anything that has legs except a chair and anything with wings except a plane."
I live on a horse farm and have leather everything. Saddles, reins, chaps, all %100 leather Even a leather fur lined coat for winter riding. I see no problem with it at all.

You are aware that the videos shown by the activists are JUST as "biased" as the clean, HUMANE farms.
WHY would ANYONE who makes a business out of furs let the animals deteriorate. It's like trying to grow wheat but never watering or spraying pesticides on it. Any REPUTABLE dealer takes care of their animals, and that is why they make better money than the scraps you could get from a thin, poorly handled farmed animal. Stress causes fur deterioration. WHY would you stress the animal, then?

my response is to the title, the luckiest animals are the ones that are killed before their skinned, and thats just disgusting. What most of society doesnt realize is that leather can be made from human skin, but wouldnt you feel pure revoltion if someone told you thier leather jacket comes from a nameless human being, that was once alive, and screamed and bled through being skinned, till it (hopefully) passed out from shock?

I trap and it would not be smart to try and skin any animal while it was alive. How stupid and gullible can you people be? Wild fur is a renewable resource, therefore it's in our best interest as trappers to take care of the resource and not let them suffer. I regularly release domestic dogs from my foothold traps unharmed. The Chinese have no regard for animals obviously.

People swallow the horror like it's candy. What's unfortunate is, they don't realize that US and European furs are almost ALWAYS humanely put down - same as how one would do with a pet at the vet office or even criminals... maybe even better. The ENTIRE animal is recycled, so to say.
I personally do not invest in asian furs, because they have a bad rep for poor fur/animal treatment. But, they also tend to treat EVERYTHING like a business vs a morality decision.

Mother nature is far worse than ANY trapper could ever be. Have you ever seen a fox or a coyote dead or dying of mange or distemper? I didn't think so. We provide an animal management solution guaranteeing the survival of the species. We are the top of the food chain. Animals have no rights. It's up to us all to protect and manage a renewable resource.

FACT: most of the worlds fur is farmed in EUROPE.
China are simply the biggest importers of fur, thus making them biggest exporters of finished fur products.
I'm glad she saw the real fur farms (in the rest of this episode) and was happy with how the animals were treated and killed.

@Kelly2357 I trapped almost 400 raccoons last year. Every one of them went to China. All my foxes (grey & red), beavers, muskrats and a few mink went to the Chinks also. It's a business and I guarantee the survival of the species through proper game management. Death is part of life. Deal with it bunny huggers. I don't let animals suffer unnecessarily either. It's as humane as possible. Hell, I release accidental catches such as domestic dogs and cats from my traps EVERY season, UNHARMED.

The video featuring the ragged fox with the artificial leg was not a fur farm but a plant which collected scents from animals to be used by hunters. The animals were not killed but their fluids were collected. The fur of these animals was much to poor and scraggly in appearrance to be used for a fur garment or even for trim. Use common sense.

Maybe China wouldn't have so many fur farms if animal "rights" activists in western countries hadn't driven out their indigenous fur industries. That skinning-alive video was probably staged by animal activists to support their cause. This has been done before in Canada during the 1964 seal cull. A sealer admitted being paid to abuse a seal on camera for an animal group to support their cause.

Sadly so many feel it necessary to push extremism such as wanting to stop meat or fur production and use all together. This is problematic for me. This suggests that we CAN use, in this case, fur, only IF the animals are 'humanely' treated. We cannot 'humanely' treat any animal. There is no excuse for animal products, no matter how well animals are cared for. We cannot ignore the fundamental point that animal exploitation abuses animals anyway, they may feel less pain however they are still killed. When the protesters were yelling Shame On You, this is wrong. We do not want alienate people we need to help them.

The horrors of fur farming are incredibly cruel but producing leather is just as bad. Leather is not just a by - product. I would say if you want to wear fur you need to know where it came from. When watching people clubbing the animals on the head, I dont particularly feel much horror. I have been to my mothers country, where people rely on killing animals this way because they are too poor to have any other means. China, I am not surprised, does this, but I am fairly certain once the animal is skinned they eat it. They say "We will eat anything that has legs except a chair and anything with wings except a plane."

I live on a horse farm and have leather everything. Saddles, reins, chaps, all %100 leather Even a leather fur lined coat for winter riding. I see no problem with it at all.
We all have our own opinions, I dont force fur dont anyone's throat and wish the same done for me.

i became anti reptile killing for snakes skins and crocodile skins ages ago as im a reptile lover...but now i am also anti-fur.....i have never wore fur and never will especially after seeing all the cruelty involved....just to make people who buy it feel better about themselves, all the people who wear fur should be ashamed, not happy

when i saw this on tv i was cryin, the otto clubbing was horrible :( poor beautiful healpless creatures. I think furr is so soft and warm and beautiful but when you think of where it has come from it is disgusting. Eleven months later... Sorry I swore at you. Glad you said you wouldn't buy anymore fur. Hope that is so. I was wrong telling you to burn what you already own. Just be careful where you wear it. There are a lot of activist nuts out there and they won't know what's in your heart. They'll just spray you with paint or blood.
So, whatever you wear, just please don't buy any more fur. You know the pain it incurs. And everyone who says NO, helps stop the cruelty. Thanks.

Thanks for posting this. Most people would be horrified to know what goes on behind the scenes with the fur industry. It's appauling and vile. Fur belongs on animals not humans.
The same applies to leather and wool and silk.

ive seen the same video that was shown to her. i had always been against fur anyway but when i saw that video it really brought it home, i could'nt stop myself crying and nearly threw up and i'm not the sort of person with a weak stomach.
i'm glad this lady decided to find out the facts about her fur garments, the sad thing is though that alot of people just don't care :-(
