i hate when people put down the national guard. they go through the same bct and ait as active army and reserve. they help out with floods, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. and they transfer their civi skills into their guard MOS's. which the NG has the same MOS's as the active army. and reserves dont even have any combat MOS's besides combat engineer..

@Fuzionrider Don't worry about it. The Guard is much more trained and experienced now, and everyone knows it. The Active Duty folk still joke like they used to, but they know that the Guard has changed dramatically since 9/11.

@ELWESTO7 the national guard is a department of the army. the green berets are army special forces. there are also plenty of special forces in the army reserve. the only difference in the guard is that the NG does more with the states when theres a national crisis.

When did they get sabres? I don't even think the army officers have sabres and it's the ARMY National Guard. Also what about the Air National Guard?

Luna, I was active Army for 10 years, Combat Arms, been to the desert 3 times, Airborne, Air Assault, Light Fighter, blah, blah blah. And I can honestly tell you in my 2 years in the Guard I have done more cool stuff, had better training than most of my time Active. I use to be the first one to call the guard, Nasty girls. But just like Active you have crappy units and you have high speed ones. Heck I took a demotion (E7) to stay in my unit. Yes the guard only trains once a month but

Such a negative comment on fellow soldiers is not necessary. Just so you know as well, many of us have come from the active duty. Many more of us actually end up in the active duty after a while in the Guard. Think twice before you start bashing the Guard/reserves, we are an integral part of this nations military force and contribute greatly to our own society as well as many others around the world.
