Legend has that General Ayub Khan asked Nelo to come and preform for

Raza Shah Pehalvi. Nelo refused and when the police arrived she

attempted to commit suicide. Habib Jalib wrote this poem about the

incident and Nelo's husband included it in a movie he made. It was

amazing the kid of people who ran the film industry at the time.

As she refused, the police was sent to bring her, which led to a suicide attempt on her part.

This incident inspired a poem by Jalib, which was later included by Neelo's husband Riaz Shahid in film the film Zarqa.

there is a story.. they say there wuz a personal party of nawab of kala bagh ad nilo wuz asked to perform. nilo wuz in luv with riaz shahid and they planed to marry. she wuz kidnapped but she has taken sleeping pills and neraly killed her. she wuz saved ultimately. habib jalib wrote on those circumstances (dictatorship/cruelty) later that poem was added to the movie. are we still dancing with chains on. are we really free??????

I heard it in different way. When Shahenshah-e-Iran visited Pakistan in 1966, he desired to see the mujra of Neelo but she refused so she was taken by force to the presidency by the order of Ayub Khan, there she was forced to dance in front of Raza Shah and then Habib Jalib wrote about it. What ever is the back ground, this song is superb and feelings and acting is superb. If you watch this movie in the background of Ayub Khan, it look more natural.

well, neelo doesn't belongs to bazar-e-hussan. In fact there was a shottings at a railway station (perhaps Sangla hill) and she was there alongwith her friends when the direcotr saw her and offered to act in the movies. I remember I met with her brother about 15 years ago who told me that they dont have any relations with her the day she join the film industry.

Thats right. It was first and last Pakistani movie which was released in Egypt. Its a typical freedom fighter type movie nothing special but at that time Israel-Palestine issue was very hot and all middle east was united against Israel. In this Arab-Israel war Pakistani Air Force pilots also took part.
