This is grate, but I have a request of Thomas 5414 would you have a copy of Bonny Owens doing this song? it was my favorite song she ever did. She would do it every time I seen her, or worked with her. If not keep up the good works and thanks
This is not a sng for gays. Don't insult Ms. Montana. Don't you wish they still sang like this. You can undestand every word, it's got exact rythym (sic) and tone. Great!
This was a "follow up" to her hit song "I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart". In that ist song she was looking for the sweetheart, in this one she's found him and he's yodeling with her. Not sure who the mael yodeler was, but he most likely was one of The Prairie Ramblers...as was Salty Holmes here.
@zensunim It is. They used to play the original recording in a gay cowboy bar in San Francisco in the early seventies and they would sing along. It was like karaoke. So funny!
Not sure of the recording date, obviously a follow up to the original, "I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart" recorded in 1935, and the first million seller by a female country singer. The song is listed as "I Want To Be A Cowboy's Sweetheart No. 2 on several CD sets.
The original, not this version, was reputedly the first C & W song by a woman to sell a million copies. This one is second rate, compared to the original.
Wow - what a classic by Patsy . I wonder which of the Light Crust Dough Boys is singing harmony with her. At first I thought he sounded a little like Roy Rogers with the good yodeling but Roy never sang with either of these groups mentioned did he? I still love the original version the best. Even though other singers have done this song it's still unbeatable by Patsy. Bonnie Lou of Cincinnati's Midwestern Hayride fame has always done a good job with this song
This version was recorded by Patsy several years after her original classic. She was backed up by The Light Crust Doughboys on this version. On the original, she was backed by The Prairie Ramblers, who backed her up on most of her original hits. This version's lyrics update Patsy's story from a girl wanting to be a cowboy's sweetheart to a girl who has found her true love and "settled down on a ranch of her own" with children. Hope this helps.

I read Patsy's bio several years ago. (Real name Ruby Blevins.) Her great
wish was to be a member of the C-W Hall of Fame. She became one,
but it was only after she died.
She was a pioneer. Should have been one of the first members.
Anyhoo I heard her a few decades back on a radio interview. She
demonstrated the difference between a Swiss yodel and a
cowboy yodel.
She made a 3rd version of her great hit. Title was something like " I
want to be a cowboy grandpa's sweetheart."

I like this and usually prefer the original to the copy, but LeAnn Rimes version is better and should be done 60 years later.
