Seriously, knocking someone into intensive care, someone who served for our country, just for peacefully expressing his freedom of speech is just cruel, even without a permit. Even though the protesters were in the wrong for crowding the streets, the police's actions completely trump that. The police should set an example & do what's right, which is obviously not the case here.

I love how people don't understand that they were block streets and didn't have the proper permits to protest. I feel bad for the guy who got shot but still, what would you do if somebody was running at your barricade? And I'm sure the officer didn't intentionally aim at the face.

@ThatRandomSniper I gotta agree with this guy. You CANNOT block and exits or streets and MUST have permits. Police don't act on protestors, they act when something goes wrong. People were doing all the 3 things above. Exits were blocked, streets were obviously closed and there were no permits. When they rushed the barricades, that's is when they started defending themselves. I feel bad for the lady that got hit, but I bet all the officer saw was a mass of people. Not a person that was injured.

It's a matter of morality rather than legality. People want to change what their government is doing, and sometimes not having a permit and blocking traffic can be a way to be heard. From what I saw, the police had no moral right to launch grenades and rubber bullets at civilians, unless the protesters had started a riot,which they didn't.

Plus this was originally a reaceful protest until the cops showed up. I understand that in some cases the protesters turn hostile toward the police & it could turn into a riot, but in most cases the event is perfectly peaceful until the cops show up. The guy at 1:50 served for 2yrs & wasn't injured until the police shot him.

Occupy Oakland DID NOT have any permits to protest, which counts as a riot. hundreds maybe even thousands of people marching thru the streets in protest doesnt sound like a friendly rally to me. I'm not defending the actions of the cops, but I am defending them throwing tear gas and flash bangs. but throwing them into a crowd of people trying to help an unconcious woman off the ground if fucked up, he was found on video, i hope our legal system does something.
