I remember just sitting down in the theater coming inside from a beautiful day. I had never experienced a movie that grabbed me in the first few minutes"One Tin Soldier" was playing as these cowboys stampeded mustangs over a cliff...Go ahead and hate your neighbor...Go ahead and cheat a friend... I think I was in absolute tears.
I guess we can't post links, but go to the Discogs website, it is the one I use for most of my historic music info. It is really spectacular. You can verify the record label info there, as well as plenty more. (It is NOT my site, don't even know the owner, just a great resource).
Nowadays, the Valley people have spies and advanced technology that already know what the secret treasure is. When it's of value to them, they fire their smart bombs and at the same time tell neighbouring villages of dangerous intents of the mountain people.
blueberries4ever: Agreed--plus if you ever read any of Jinx's Facebook or Myspace pages, she seems to think that she invented music. LOL, I'm exaggerating, but she does seem quite full of herself!
This song always makes my eyes water. It's beautiful and all too sad. You can say what you want, but at least try to grasp the message of the song. It really truly is a life lesson.
Perfect song for the Israelis and Palestinians to carefully listen to. The buried treasure? "Peace on earth" was all it said. For the good of all mankind, PLEASE heed the message. Thank You.
THIS SONG IS CRAZY! ;-; This sounds like the raids done in Africa Pre-colonial America and many other places. People willing to share, but because some fools want to be greedy they refuse and kill and take... TO WHAT END?!
i had song this song in church one time my grandmother had the sheet music for the song and i got to do it the orginal name for the song is ledgnd of bill jack and i have always loved it and still do as of today
LOL!...WOW!!!....Anthems of my youth. This, and the "Id like to teach the world to sing" and "Brand New Key". All the little boys wanted to be Billy Jack, all the girls wanted to dress like pretty hippie girlies.
The last battleship on active duty was USS Missouri (BB 63) decommissioned Mar. 31, 1992. In the 21st century, there are no battleships in the United States Navy.,, NOW my words; Att. 55Sooner, Sorry NO more Battleships. I THINK the last one was used in 1991 (1st Gulf war). It MIGHT have been Big Mo. Thanks for your kind words. I hope your doing well for an OLD ground pounder! STAY SAFE!!!
I pray in my own way for ALL our MILITARY. Some more than others for they are family & friends. I received a letter from my local politician thanking me for flying my American flag after 9/11. Where was he when it was flying PROUDLY the PREVIOUS 23 years! (when we moved into our house). It's SAD that EVERYONE is NOT showing our support ALL the time!
There were three that were on active duty at the time and they went into permanent mothballs after the USS Iowa explosion in turret 2. bTW-I am HM1(AW), USN Ret.
Thank you for your service to your country, especially a VN Vet. I am doing what I do, supporting our country in Afghanistan. A question for an old Navy Vet, do we still have batteships? I noticed recently the Missouri was the last. I am an old Army puke, was in in Cambodia and Vietnam, days before they fell in 1975, support type troop.
Thats it. The bell 45 pic was it. I remember this tune and have been surchin it for a while. I remember my sisters 45 and that was it. Thought i remembered Coven's version from when I was young but, this was it. This was the version. Holy FU**. You just made my day. THIS VERSION FOR SURE, KICKS, Coven's Ass.
I see where the confusion on Maureen McGovern singing the "Morning After Song". Maureen McGovern sung the the "The Morning After". One Tin Solider referred only to "On the bloody morning after, One Tin Solider rides away". Ignorance is bliss sometimes. I know, been there done that.
I can't believe that somebody would post a comment on Coven -One Tin Soldier by dolphinlover46 that this was Maureen McGovern singing this song. It was Jinx Dawson (Coven) and Dixie Lee Stone (Original Caste) who sung this song.
me and my moma use to watch this movie when i was lil and sick my mom have only found one copy and i love it i steel watch it and think back when i was lil and miss thoes days
Now those were the days eh? I think I'll sit down with the guitar and keyboards and work it up. Should have it in an hour or so. Thanks for posting it!
I had to change my call name to 55sooner from 17jul1955. Should have never used my birth date, caught heck from that. On my way to Afghanistan. I will keep this song with me. The US 45 was actually pinkish. I have the above, my comrades from the seventies have the pinkish US version. God Bless. This song tells it all.
Thank You! You made my day. I leave next week. Keep me in your prayers. Born in 55, I am getting to old for this stuff, but the younger generation need the guidance and direction of us old ones. We step on the shoulders of our mothers and fathers. God Bless the United States of America and Canada.
Excellent! This original version is hard to find! The "Coven" version is everywhere, but I haven't heard this one in ages. Much better than the other version. thanks for posting it.
I heard this song on the Simpsons. My first time hearing it in it's entirity. Ilove it! Those early 70s theme songs with the campy melodies to it, really found a way to open you up.
It was on the T.A. label, catalogue #186. The Canadian Bell catalogue number is the same as the US one, it's the label that licensed the master for Canadian distribution.
@mojofilter02 Bell started T.A as an U.S imprint. Do What You Wanna Do by Five Flights Up,as well as Seals and Crofts "From Home" album appeared on this label
Graham Bruce, the bass player, l see all the time. He is now a CPA accountant in Calgary. Bruce and Dixie were married for a brief period and then divorced. She owns a Tim Horton's franchise with her new husband in British Columbia. Also, with the way the music biz was operating back in the day, the label owned all the rights to the songs and they - to this day- do not get a penny on the royalties. Glad to see those rules are changed but...to late for the Original Caste.
Dixie Lee Stone, formerly Innes, does not own a Tim Horton's, but rather resides now in Victoria, BC. Bruce is still singing and playing in southern Idaho. Both are great people-- I'm slightly biased being their son!
I am old school, I have a 45 record just like the one depicted. I have had it since 1970. I am going to see my son in Great Falls, Montana in October. Maybe I can link up with with your mother and father. Great song. I have always enjoyed it.
