  • love those guys with long hair : )

  • "This negative energy just makes me stronger!"

  • why does matt dillon play the lead singer? eddie should play this roll

  • SPOONMAN

  • @jfoley715

    holy shit!! Spoonman! Great catch!

  • @techpro30 Thank you!

  • You don't have to be nostalgic for the '90s just move to Portland, Maine.

  • @JandritoBlues hmmmm.....What’s out in Portland, Maine?

The real Portland to be at is on the other side in Oregon;)....closer to where this film was taking place.

  • "Eddie Motherfuckinnnnn' Vedderrrrrr......."

  • "Singles" was a boring film in love with itself...I find Cameron Crowe terribly overrated.

  • I love Matt Dillon's line, "... This weekend, we rock Portland!"... I just wish the clip was longer, Because I love when he says, "Guys... no matter what happens tonight, just remember we're still loved in Italy and Belgium!"... great movie. =)

  • how's it possible?? Spoonman is taken by Superunknown, 1994, and the movie is 1992...

  • @scirocco09 Cornell wanted to write some songs for the film, which are Birth Rutual and Spoonman, but it was just a demo at this time

  • fine...thx :))

  • aaaah this is an great movie!

hahah I love that look that ed and jeff give Cliff at 1:16

it's so cool to see the guys from pj (and AIC and soundgarden) when they were so young! Eddie Vedder's voice is ridiculous. I could listen to him sing/talk all day :)))

  • @saruhhh19 lol, that look deserves a meme

  • not to sound disrespectful but I'd make out with Eddie like crazyy!! he is sooooooo hotttttt

  • oh my god i watched this movie and did not recognize pearl jam! oooooooooooooooooooppppppppppppppppppssssssss but they're so young!

  • eddie vedder:

    00:55 - a second of pure seduction

  • Eddie´s voice is AMAZING, even when he´s not singing <3

  • Thumbs up if you paused to read the whole review....

  • love you forever eddie

  • Spoonman in the beginning!

  • jeff ament sporting the KINGS X shirt

jeff and dug just played on Fallon tonite in tres mnts !

  • ohhh my favorite scene!!!!!! on another note, i think i'm the only 18 year old that knows about this movie.

  • @StraightPunkEdge93 nope. same here. im not sure why young people who like good music from the 90s try to show it off and show off that theyre young, like its so cool to be young and love pearl jam. just enjoy it ya know? its good shit, so is the soundtrack from this movie and all of the 90s grunge scene. doesnt matter what your age is, all it means is that if you like pearl jam you've got taste

  • @StraightPunkEdge93 Nope, I recently turned 19, and this is my favorite movie even though it came out the year I was born.

  • Its almost march 10th!

  • a compliment for us, is a compliment for you hahaha

  • Is that an early version of spoonman i can hear at the beginning?...

  • @f1alex94 Yes, Chris Cornell wrote all the extra music for this film. Along them was an early acoustic version of Spoonman.

  • @f1alex94 Yeah thats what I thought. Superunknown didnt come out until 94. This is a 92 movie.

  • 65daysofstatic anyone?

  • @innocencefaded2112 THIS BAND ARE UNSTOPPABLE!

  • @bailsmansalesman you know it man! retreat retreat!!!!

  • @innocencefaded2112 that was... eye-opening hahaha. Awesome!

  • sweetwater? didnt they open at woodstock?

  • @thebeautifulman69 i think they did. they have a song that makes me cry. i have no idea why. very strange.

  • sweetwater? didnt they open at woodstock ? nanacy nevins where are ya ? lol

  • My name is Mike from LA Although there busizz4me.info

  • a compliment for us, is a compliment for you...Eddie Veder = Win times ten

  • they're playing spoonman!

  • Pearl Jam and Drama in a scene together? Yeaaaaaaaaaa!

  • @cbproducktions That's Matt Dillon. The older brother. Still cool though.

  • o ağzını yerim ya

  • Spoonman!

  • I would put my dick in Bridget Fonda's cunt.

  • Hey dudes it`s like grunge ...

  • Love this scene!

  • im sad to see all this bullshit arguing on a video, its really a disrespect to the bands and the memory of what great music used to be, if you dont like something just keep it to yourself or something, I see videos all the time I cant stand or some dumbass comment someone leaves, and I go to type it out and then I think "well i'm gonna say this and hes going to respond with some dumb shit that makes no sense or insult my mother or some bullshit" so I already won, skip all the negativity.

  • @toobad890

Hell yeah man, glad to know I'm not the only one who hates that shit

  • SPOONMAN!!!

  • @Schism94 Hey wasnt this movie before spoonman

  • @jackzop At the very beginning of the clip you can hear the acoustic version of the main riff. Cornell wrote the song in '92.

  • the beginning is an early take on the soundgarden song spoonman.

  • Pearl Jam and Nirvana both rock. Stop comparing them, people!!

  • their better actors than i thought they would be

  • ahahahah you can even hear a piece of SPOONMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • im glad Nirvana rejected this

  • "sometimes"

  • Aerosmith hat!

  • Dillon looked too old to be playing that part and the character was annoying as hell. I grew up with a guy who was the spitting image of Dillon's character, both physically and mentally. He was constantly involved with bands, got all caught up in the image and style of that era, etc. Now, he's bald, obese and drinks beer all day. I thought the film was one of Crow's worst. Very pretentious w/ hardly any story line. Great soundtrack, though.

  • @ritter89 The only cool person in the whole movie was Chris Cornell

  • @0Oclockmusic and he didn't even say a single word.

  • SPOOONNNNMAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @RammsteinMann13 Always wondered if that was a demo vers or just an acoustic vers they did for the movie...

  • Dang Jeff's acting was terrible.

  • Love Eddie in this: "A compliment for us is a compliment for you" haha, Movieman2000 = go to deepdiscountdvd and you can get this movie at a good price. I did :-)

  • lol "A compliment for us is a compliment for you."

"nahh man..this negative energy just makes me stronger!" XD Vedder is awesome

  • man i've never seen singles, my bro said it was like a romantic comedy, this scene was very funny, and eddie stone and jeff can bloody act! lol when i started watching this i didn't read the description and said to myself "who the fuck is this long haired guy?! he's not from pearl jam"

i need to find this on dvd

  • Pearl Jam has nothing to do with Nirvana. Pearl Jam comes from the Zeppelin tree. Nirvana comes from the Black Sabath tree. Oh yeah, Pearl Jam has eight studio albums. Nirvana has two.

  • god OO why do everyone compare nirvana and pearl jam and argue who of them was/is bigger? just listen to their music and enjoy it.. i'm sure both bands (if nirvana would still exist) would agree if someone says, that the music is, what it's about...... everything is about comparing and being better/bigger whatever.. i think that sucks ass..

  • I want to clear things up for those who worship Nirvana or Cobain. Cobain claimed he was asked first to do "Singles" before Pearl Jam but Nirvana turned it down. Sorry boys & girls, but thats total bullshit. Nirvana was not even considered to do the movie. Pearl Jam has always been bigger than Nirvana so why would a movie go with a second rate band like Nirvana? So to sum it all up, Nirvana sucks and Pearl Jam has always been bigger & better.

  • @dirtyfrank81 It doesnt get much bigger than Nirvana.

  • and if it doesnt get much bigger than Nirvana, where the hell are they at now? how many albums have they sold, how many concerts have they sold out? get over it man. nirvana is a burnt out band. cobain was a loser. accept it and move on.

  • no, llke for their time, they were HUGE.

  • lol

You obviously werent around in 1992. There wasnt anybody on earth bigger than Nirvana at the time.

What's with the whole "them or us" thing. All of those bands were what made music great back then, and even to this day.

Music is a uniquely individual opinion. Most people think both bands suck dick compared to whichever music happens to be their favorite.

Ultimately, it doesnt matter. ALL of the bands from that era are what made it so great. It's the last great music era tbh.

  • lets get some things straight. im most likely older than you so yes i was around in 1992. second, i never said i hated nirvanas music. i said cobain was a loser. and pearl jam came out before nirvana and they are still around. you are the one who needs to be taught a lesson. nirvana sold out. even if cobain was alive, pearl jam would still be on top.

  • Well, as long as you are getting things straight, you might want to restract saying that the band that formed in 1990 was around before the band that released it's first album in 89.

Not sure if you have any lessons to teach there Professor.

  • and before you say it, it's retract. typo, sue me

  • you are such a moron. do you know how long the members of pearl jam have been around??? way before nirvana there was bad radio, mother love bone. stop acting like nirvana started it all. they didnt. nirvana came after. get your facts straight.

  • Because being in bands before the one you are talking about counts? LoL

Yeah, I do know about the bands they were in before they formed Pearl Jam dude.

How am I "acting" like Nirvana started it all? Im posting facts, and pointing out your errors.

You can hate Cobain all you want, that's fine. People like you did at the time as well. It was.... expected of you :)

Anyhow, yeah, this movie is cool as hell. Enjoy it. Rock on.

  • @dirtyfrank81 LMFAO. The day Pearl Jam is bigger thgan Nirvana is the day Kurt rises from the grave. Pearl Jam has always been bigger than Nirvana? Nirvana was a second rate band? Are you fuckin high? I respect Pearl Jam but they were never bigger than Nirvana and never even close to being on there level. Hell Pearl Jam only got a break because the window that Nirvana opened for so many grunge bands. Wake up dumb-ass.

  • @Caponis LoL are you retarded or what??? Pearl Jam has been around way before Nirvana came along. Do your homework man before you start running your mouth. And where is Nirvana today? If theyre this great band, where are they??? Do you have an answer for that???? PEARL JAM FOREVER BABY!!!!!!

  • @dirtyfrank81 Pearl Jam only were signed to a nice record deal because of the door that Nirvana opened for grunge. FACT. Doesn't matter what the fuck you say, it is a simple and well known fact. And BTW Nirvana is as big as ever and has never stopped gaining fans and Kurt died in 1994. If that isn't big than I don't know what is. They will also be known forever as owning the 90's. That is another FACT for ya.

  • @dirtyfrank81 People will be talking about Kurt forever, and the impact he had. The same cannot be an will not be said when Vedder passes away.

  • @dirtyfrank81 Also if you wan to nitpick Soundgarden had much more influence than Pearl Jam. They actually had a lot to do with what happened in the 90's with their first album being released in 1987, this if a much overlooked fact.

  • @Caponis First of all, No one has, nor will they ever sing like Ed. He will be very missed when his time comes and how dare you say that when hes still alive you douche bag. and thats fine about soundgarden, but dont come up with bullshit that nirvana was some sort of rock gods. they had great music, but they werent that great.

  • @dirtyfrank81 No one will sing like Ed? I can name the 3 best signers right now of that era and Eddie isn't one of them. Vocally it goes, Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Then Shannon Hoon. And if you really want to get into who had the best range and was really, really amazing. Jeff Buckely. End of story. And I wasn't saying that he would'nt be missed, he will be greatly missed but the impact of Eddie Vedder leaving this world will not be close to the impact of Kurt leaving.

  • @dirtyfrank81 And I am not bringing up the subject of Eddie dying to be a douche. I am simply explaining that connection that Kurt had with his generation, and the impact it had when he left. The mark he left will never again be matched. No people or generation was affected more when Kurt died since Lennon. And there is a reason for that.

  • @dirtyfrank81 You can say how Pearl Jam has better musicians all you want. That doesn't make a band better and everyone knows that. Kurt was a true artist and genius when it came to writing and music in general. Its not all about how great you can play the guitar, and BTW Kurt wasn't t bad as people make him out to be on the guitar, he had his own sound, and Dave was no fuckin slouch on the drums.

  • Comment removed

  • @dirtyfrank81 And FWI almost all the lead singers of the grunge bands on the 90's admitted that Kurt was the best writer of their era, and something special.

  • @dirtyfrank81 Oh an done more thing since you keep posting that Kurt was a loser for some reason. Just thought I would point out that Eddie Vedder is a drunk and couldn't was even falling on his face during his unplugged show. He was so drunk that you couldn't even understand his mumbling. On UUNPLUGGED. You know unplugged, another door that Nirvana opened for all future Unplugged acts, which BTW Nirvana Unplugged just happens to be known as a top 5-10 live performance in the history of music.

  • @Caponis please learn how to spell or speak correctly. ever hear of bad radio? look them up man. vedder and pearl jam have been around way before cobain. and yeah ed drinks, but at least hes not pumping herion into his veins and writing horrible suicide notes.

  • @dirtyfrank81 Dude bottom line is Nirvana opened all doors for bands like Pearl Jam and every other grunge band in the 90's. Without Nirvana we would have no Pearl Jam or many other bands for that matter. Nirvana made it able for bands to get deals and be heard and become huge. Bottom line. And Kurt without a doubt is a superior writer than Vedder. And please just stop with all this Pearl Jam is bigger than Nirvana will ever be shit. Its sounds ridiculous.

  • @dirtyfrank81 Also, are you really going to rip me on my grammer. My keyboard sticks all the time and I usually don't read over every youtube post. I have been writing music and and poetry for a long time now. I have forgotten more about music, writing and apparently the 90's in general than you will ever know. Oh and it is ok to like Pearl Jam and Nirvana. Thought I would let ya know. Did you even grow up in the 90's? I have a feeling you are about 15-18 or some shit. It shows in your posts.

  • @Caponis of course I have to poke @ your grammer. Being called a douche bag has to get old. And haha on thinking Im 15-18. I wish I was. I can tell you I graduated in the 90s so yes, I think I know about the 90s. Im guessing youre calling me stupid. Look man, I will make it simple for you. Nirvana had great tunes, Cobain is someone that cant be respected. He killed himself and didnt even know what he was throwing away. Pearl Jam will always be my fave and that will never change.

  • @dirtyfrank81 Why didn't you just act like this from the beginning. I already respect you more by reading this post. Much more mature and unbiased. It shows your respect for both bands and singers and also doesn't make you come off like a dick. Not sure why you couldn't just act mature and honest from the beginning, I would have respected and actually enjoyed reading opinions from a fellow bro who grew up in everything that encapsulated the 90's, which is hard to explain unless you lived it.

  • @dirtyfrank81 Never mind on my last post. I thought you said Kurt was someone who has to be respected for what and who he was and it sucked that he threw away more talent that he even realized. Also you if anyone should know that his suicide is very, very suspicious and actually not even believable if you really read into every little thing that happened up to and the day of an dafter his death.

  • @dirtyfrank81 And btw some of the most talented and respected musicians ever threw away there life because of drugs. They should never lose respect because of personal problem that can happen to anyone. Genius usually comes from people that have depression, or other emotional problems or past trauma. All the greats had it and most lost there life because of self medicating(CAN HAPPEN TO ANYONE) They gave us everything that had emotionaly while struggling terribly. I will always respect that.

  • @Caponis now maybe I commented wrong or you misunderstood me. i didnt say we shouldnt respect him because he did drugs. i said we shouldnt respect him because he killed himself and threw everything away.

  • @dirtyfrank81

I respect the motherfucker 'cause suicide is the result of long time depression & use of drugs. He was poisoning himself with all that crack and other bullshit and couldn't stop and to ease the pain he just fucking shot himself. It's a sad fucking thing

  • is this a good movie? i heard it was good and thought about renting/buying it, so just looking for some assurance

  • you may get a better review if your drummer was the lead singer

  • Eddie, my God, you're gorgeous...It's those freakin' cheek bones and that shy smile... I could stare at his face and listen to that deep voice all day long...And night, haha

  • @pinklynny I saw him and Laird Hamilton on that Sundance show called Iconoclasts (years ago). Couldn't stop staring at Eddie. And his (seeming) humility, and kind of self-effacing personality are even more amazing because of his looks.

  • When I saw this film in the theater, I had no idea who Eddie Vedder was but he stood out for me. Good Looking! And, funny, "..a compliment for us is a complement for you."

  • the members of pearl jam are better actors than matt dillon, kinda funny

  • soooo true!

  • agree

  • @SSaxdude No. They're better musicians lol. Eddie Vedder is actually a good singer lol.

    Matt Dillon just isnt lmfao

  • @SSaxdude well, think about it this way, wouldn't a truck driver probably be more convincing than say, Robert Deniro playing a truck driver?

  • is the beginning spoonman by soundgarden?

  • yep

  • yeah its the Chris Cornell demo

  • VEEEEEEEEEEDDER!

  • Hey! I thought B. Fonda was the PERFECT Actress for the movie "Singles" - especially for the 'small boobs' scenes with Matt Dillon. I just adore her! I thought ALL the Actors' fit the Characters they played to a tee.

OMG Eddie Vedder will ALWAYS be So F**ing GOR-GE-OUS!!

  • I'm inclined to agree with SpiritedWahine about Eddie Vedder, he is totally beautiful.

I hope I can see PJ in london june 2010 :D

  • They should've got a better female lead for this movie.

  • Oh my god, they all look sixteen.

    I feel so old.

  • What place is that from? Is it still there? So many of the good old places are closed now, glad the Crocodile opened again though.

  • that's sooooo cool!!!

  • ...and Drummer Eddie Vedder!!! Awesome.

  • eddie vedder is a really good actor. i wonder if he was ever involved in the drama department at school.

  • good actor??? what do you base that on? His 2 min of acting in thes movie? He's just natural, dose'nt show anger or sadness. Everyone could have done this! I just think you are a big fan an want to raise him to the sky! I am also a big fan but i definately dont see him as a really good actor. Gary oldman is a really good actor!

  • well, you took two sentences and made it look like i worship the guy. however, i read through a book on pearl jam...it seems that he was actively involved in the drama department. the 2 minutes does not really prove much, but if you ever watched him on stage it would be enough evidence to prove something. acting is an art (singing is also a form of acting) and eddie is an artist. the rest of his band is just as equally great too. please don't be negative man.

  • acting is art yes...music is art yes. But is music and acting the same thing=absolutely not! I've seen him live yes and i have also study theatre and film for many years at the university and eddie vedder is not an actor!!! pleas stop argue with me punk!

  • when you perform music, either by yourself or on a stage, you're using raw emotion or FAKE emotion in direct correlation to what the essence of your song is....you either synchronize or you dont. that is basically acting man. eddie vedder IS an "actor", shit...we are all actors if you really think about it.

  • you stupid fucking idiot! Dont make it sound like you have any clue about this...cos you obviously dont! Wtf do you know about acting? and wtf do you know about art? You just want to argue! Please once again. stop!

  • shut the fuck up and take english classes at your university instead of studying film, because your stupid grammar and spelling is pissing me off . you didn't have to reply to my comment with your bitter bullshit, but you did anyway because you are a stupid asshole that needs to be flushed down a toilet full of shit. pearl jam is an intellectual band that doesn't need you as a fan at all.... go inhale gasoline or something.

  • I speak better english than you speak any other language. You probably dont even have an 2:nd language! Go and get some friends...try that silly game! Punk!

  • just shut up and leave everyone alone with your arrogant bullshit. this all started because you couldn't keep your lame opinion to yourself...so that makes YOU the punk. grow up and stop watching wrestling.

  • you are a fan of wrestling and ufc lmao. no wonder you are such a fucking dumbass.

  • If you don't have some real emotional connections to the songs your writing or your performance of the songs, you'll most likely be mediocre

  • thats true man. thats why a lot of really great artists have serious depression.

  • Couldn't have said it better myself. Usually they then try to find an escape in drugs or alcohol and we all know where that road leads

  • what are you talking about man? i see vedder as a man who is completely honest and does what he does because he believes in it. he may put on a show, but that is necessary. i dont think his emotion is acted out at all.

  • you cant really say he doesn't act out his emotions. watch his live videos in the early nineties and you will see him jumping around, using hand motions, making crazy/angry faces ...all in a very surreal and theatrical way. he made being a frontman an art form...and it was all true to his heart. people can connect well to that kind of expression, because its visually beautiful and dynamic. if you can put people in a trance with visuals, audio, and emotions then you got them sold for life.

  • @lungworms You are an idiot BTW.

  • @Caponis i really do agree with you.

  • what about alice cooper? alice cooper is a character and not his real self vince will say so everything he does while on stage, and while singing i might add, is all for show.

  • much love

  • So this is where 65DOS take out the sample of Retreat! Retreat!, great!!! Also It's cool to see Pearl Jam there!!
