  • Um... that tour guide has no idea what she is talking about.

The shoes held by the Smithsonian were sold in the MGM auction of 1970 for $15,000. The shoes, were then donated to the museum, by the buyer, in 1979.

While the ruby slippers are worth quite a bit of money, in 2000 a pair, in much better condition the those held by the Smithsonian, were sold at Christie's for $666,000. I doubt they are worth remotely $5 million dollars. But, in many ways, they are priceless.

  • @wickedmeltification lol she has no idea what shes talking about AND she's loud and annoying. LOL.

When I saw this pair of the Ruby Slippers at the Smithsonian I was VERY unimpressed at the way they display them. They are shoved off to the corner in a dingy case that looks like its made out of Plexiglass.

I even saw a stray sequin just laying beside one of the slippers. I don't think the Smithsonian takes very good care of them. :-(

  • What a way to increase your value of the ruby slippers.

  • Very interesting video and nice music.
