I've been doing this for a long time, I find it useful to use a very tiny fade at the edges of each section, makes the effect sound more "natural" for lack of a better word. Can also add an additional sweeping effect if you crank up the fade. But sometimes clipping audio too quickly can cause some low level pops and clicks which are never wanted, so it gets rid of those too.
@masterofktulu11. hey this may or may not be of use but if you zoom right in and make sure you mute/cut your regions at a point where the waveform crosses zero it won't clip.
This way you keep the snappy feel and since you're only moving the cut by maybe a couple of tics you won't be able to tell that's it's out of sync.
its hard to tell where to start a vocal stutter. especially if you dont have your own beats and can fit it to the grid. i download the free beats online
@masterofktulu11 not sure about pro tools, but i know that in cubase you can set in auto fade ins and auto fade outs to small amounts to avoid clipping and clicks and pops
@Buhzie15 Exactly, that's what I was thinking maybe setting auto fade-ins and auto fade-outs, cause cutting the wave like that will probably clip on the speakers. Thanks man!
@masterofktulu11 just make sure the fade-ins are really quick because the effect could get lost.. because that sudden attack of the chopped sound is important.
Thanks again Graham! This could be a really cool and refreshing thing in a mix/song!! I always record to a click track, because it makes the song so much more tight and the project in the DAW so much more clear to work on!

Another cool thing is if you pitch down that last full part of the note. Nice tutorial!

What command keys did you use in grid mode to separate the vocal at 2:40 in the video?
ABC1MCE2 7 months ago
@ABC1MCE2 The letter "b" if you are in keyboard focus mode

I got a question, might be a stupid one: you wouldn't have to insert a fade-in on every region to avoid clipping?

How do you make it so that your cursor aligns perfectly on the grid like that?
hitchhiker3090 9 months ago
@hitchhiker3090 you change it at the top from "slip" mode to "grid" mode or from whatever mode you have it set to
