Thanks mate .... and after how much kms do u recommend to change the plates ? i finished 1200km and now gear shifting has become a bit jerky ... i think its time to change .... what do u think ?
I put my bike on centerstand ... start the engine .. holding the clutch i shift to 1st gear ( still on centerstand) and the rear wheel start to rotate ( even when the clutch is fully pulled) rotational speed increases if i pull the throttle .. is this normal ? Pls reply ...
@Gireesh092 That means your clutch cable is stretching, you need to keep it tightened up, just tight enough that the rear wheel should not spin faster with throttle pull. And you're burning your clutch easily.
@halosavage it could if the clutch isnt fully ingaging it would cause the gears to slap and that also would explain the grinding noise when i take off.
After removing the cover, the old "gasket" (i dont really know how to spell it) tears apart right? The new one is to replace it right? Do u apply glue in it when joining back the motor cover? Are they in anyways special?
yes, if you bought a new gasket,(spelled correctly), it is to replace the old one, however, you can reuse and old one if it is not to damaged. But for example, if you ever take apart your cylinder, you MUST replace the gaskets when reassembling it or else the old ones will not be 100% air tight and you will blow your cylinder.
the order in which the friction plates come out matter???? my service manual doesnt state anything about the friction plate or steel plate direction or position ..suzuki gsxr 750 2007
@chitownbrowne because the rounded side needs to be traveling in the release direction for safety just in case a plate hangs up on the burs they tend to make. better to not engage then to not release. ... for safety.

my dirtbike makes a grinding noise when i take off and when i down shift it makes a slapping noise what do you think i need
NCcoinDigger 4 months ago
slapping noise like metal against metal? check your chain and sprockets for wear
halosavage 4 months ago
@halosavage brand new chain and sprockets i keep chain adjusted maybe my clutch cable could use some adjusting
NCcoinDigger 4 months ago
clutch cable should have anything to do with it... check your clutch? I'd have to hear it..

I have a honda Rebel 2006, the clutch is burnt. Does your video applies to same way to the rebel when replacing the clutch? Thanks

honda rebal, is that the 250?
halosavage 4 months ago
@halosavage it is a 250. thanks

ok well drain the oil, take off the clutch cover and it should look like this (a wet clutch) if so, then it works the same way.
halosavage 4 months ago
on all bikes it starts with a friction plate and ends with one? or some bikes start and end with the steel plate?
hempkid4420 5 months ago
they all start with a friction plate and end with one

Yes this was helpful!!!!

basic video on a clutch replacement. Should include info about using the proper torque specs for the bolts in a service manual.

The video was fine. It helps to visualize it before getting in to the actual job for yourself.

when you do it make sure you soak the new frictions in oil before you install them dont put it together dry. it will lead to premature failure.

chitownbrowne 1 year ago
i does matter, just replace them in the same order they came out.. but if you're replacing them, make sure they are all put back the same way.
halosavage 1 year ago
why does it matter what side of the steel plates face outward???
chitownbrowne 1 year ago
i dont know why but it just matters.
halosavage 1 year ago
@chitownbrowne just a guess but the square edge will drag on the clutch basket wen. engaging. binding the plates up.

There are letters and numbers on each plate, and 3 of them
are marked with number #15, the other 5 are numbered with
#16
antwonza 1 year ago
if they aren't different sizes by eye, then i would say to leave them, specially if they are stock.
halosavage 1 year ago
I have a crf 450 and have 8 total friction plates. Now 3 of them are numbered different than the other 5. Why is that
antwonza 1 year ago
what do you mean by numbered?
