It's touching, however, to see how much you care about the unborn -- when do you stop caring about them? When they're old enough to need food, housing, and medical care? And that's what sucks. I'm not “conservative” on those other issues. Many other pro-life people like me have worked to better housing etc. on and off the reservation and other lower income communities. And I agree that more work needs to be done in those areas by everyone.

And I as I said, many pro-life people work hard to offer assistance and/or resources as an alternative to abortions. Conservative state senators are voting to cut services to hungry children rather than impose new taxes. Where are the prolifers? Backing the conservatives who are cutting health and human services. @CarissaXo99 you make a good point, but the "un-wanted" feeling may change. Have you ever had a child? I was baby shy before I had one of my own, now I love all little children, they are so precious. I have 3 daughters and one is named Carissa. If the parents still don't want the child, then I am sure there are plenty of couples that can't have a child of their own who would be more than willing to adopt the child.

There was even a lawsuit in my state where the child's father had not done his due-diligence to make sure that his girlfriend didn't give up their child for adoption, and the boy was adopted by a couple. The birth father decided that he didn't want the child put up for adoption, and so a couple who really wanted the child fought in the courts to keep him. The choice to have/not have a child is made when the 2 tangoed.

In a perfect world though, I'd like to see abortions almost eradicated as I think that life should be given a chance, no matter how "unwanted" or "inconvenient" the pregnancy might be.
Also, cells at this stage have no central nervous system, and therefore can feel no pain, most obviously during the first few weeks. Granted, things get a lot more grey down the road, which is why I'm opposed to late-term abortions, except when the mothers life is in danger and the baby wouldn't survive but having the kid would just kill the mother. That said, in the early stages, the fetus does not have a brain or central nervous system: What makes a person a person.

For example, people arguing from the point of religion often argue that at the moment of conception a soul occupies the cells and therefore, killing those cells is exactly equivalent to killing a human being. What they don't tell you is that during the first few weeks of development, the fertilized egg can actually divide, creating twins. They can also, after division, come back together again. So are we dividing and adding souls here at this stage?

You clearly don't know science. I skin cell under a microscope is clearly a skin cell. No skin cell will ever grow into another type of cell, it will never grow a brain, a heart or a kidney. Only a living human zygote can ever become a human baby. Human women do not conceive fish or tadpoles that become human after 9 months.
The reason why scientist usually consider the first stages of embryo developement as "less human" is simply because they look like early stages of the evolution of animals (e.g. tadpoles): with an embryo of tail and gill slits... Moreover, brain function and brain activity (conscience) can only exist when a brain exists (>3 months). Life doesn´t make clear cut distinctions, that´s the job of our minds...

What I meant by survive was to survive outside of the womb. In my mind, if the fetus is wholely dependant on the woman in which it is developing, it is still a part of that woman and subject to her decisions. If it has developed to the point where it can be cared for by other people, it is then an independant human being.

My thoughts are that the women who hold these fetuses have the right not so much destroy the fetuses, but to discontinue care if that is what they decide. They should have that right just as many fathers walk away without legal consequence.

What about the civil liberties of the unborn? Are they unimportant?
However, what you describe as pro-abortion is absolutely pro-choice. Those who do not hold a default position of abortion or no abortion are left with having to choose on a case-by-case basis.
Also, I will never discount the idea that the effects of abortion are traumatic. It is not an easy decision and I can't imagine it being made lightly. To decide on an abortion, a woman would undoubtedly deem it absolutely necessary.

It's touching, however, to see how much you care about the unborn -- when do you stop caring about them? When they're old enough to need food, housing, and medical care? And that's what sucks. I'm not “conservative” on those other issues. I have 3 daughters and one is named Carissa. If the parents still don't want the child, then I am sure there are plenty of couples that can't have a child of their own who would be more than willing to adopt the child.

There was even a lawsuit in my state where the child's father had not done his due-diligence to make sure that his girlfriend didn't give up their child for adoption, and the boy was adopted by a couple. The birth father decided that he didn't want the child put up for adoption, and so a couple who really wanted the child fought in the courts to keep him. The choice to have/not have a child is made when the 2 tangoed.

How can we call a collection of cells a 'living human' when they don't even have a neuron system yet? That's where I personally draw the line for abortions. Also, cells at this stage have no central nervous system, and therefore can feel no pain, most obviously during the first few weeks. Granted, things get a lot more grey down the road, which is why I'm opposed to late-term abortions, except when the mothers life is in danger and the baby wouldn't survive but having the kid would just kill the mother. That said, in the early stages, the fetus does not have a brain or central nervous system: What makes a person a person.

For example, people arguing from the point of religion often argue that at the moment of conception a soul occupies the cells and therefore, killing those cells is exactly equivalent to killing a human being. What they don't tell you is that during the first few weeks of development, the fertilized egg can actually divide, creating twins. They can also, after division, come back together again. The reason why scientist usually consider the first stages of embryo developement as "less human" is simply because they look like early stages of the evolution of animals (e.g. tadpoles): with an embryo of tail and gill slits... Moreover, brain function and brain activity (conscience) can only exist when a brain exists (>3 months). Life doesn´t make clear cut distinctions, that´s the job of our minds...

For the first 10 weeks of human development, the embryo's sex is undifferentiated, meaning there are no particular characteristics of either sex. Or rather, to be more precise, the makings of both genders are present, and the baby could still go either way. That's why it is possible to have an otherwise normal male baby with an XX chromosomal makeup.

He took that analogy waaay too far. Not only is the response from Planned Parenthood a very brief, selective account from someone who disagrees with them, but the later analysis misquated Ireland, unfairly equate those who believe in pro-choice to slave holders.
If zygotes or fetuses are human beings, they should be able to survive on their own. If they are unable to, the mother should have the right to end care for it especially (a little off-topic) in the case of rape or incest.

What I meant by survive was to survive outside of the womb. In my mind, if the fetus is wholely dependant on the woman in which it is developing, it is still a part of that woman and subject to her decisions. If it has developed to the point where it can be cared for by other people, it is then an independant human being.
There is no such thing as wanting an abortion, only deciding one is necessary.

My thoughts are that the women who hold these fetuses have the right not so much destroy the fetuses, but to discontinue care if that is what they decide. They should have that right just as many fathers walk away without legal consequence.
