  • my channel is full of beats just like this nin beat, check them out

  • It's been a long time since I tried it and I only played Rayman. There was nothing wrong with the controller for that game. It didn't use the overlay buttons, but the idea is perfectly fine.

  • The 17 buttons of confusedness.

  • the fuck.....

  • I can't see what is stupid about that numpad. You could use it for many different functions... just like the keyboard in front of you and only noobs would be whining how complex, difficult and painful is to play Starcraft.

  • Call me crazy, but I actually like this controller. I mean, it's terrible, but it's kind of nice to hold

  • Well, I can see why the Jaguar failed. That controller is a beast! Plus, the whole overlay thing is a pain. I had the same problem with the Intellevision. 3 buttons, Option?, and Pause (like swapping START and SELECT). Then there's the whole number pad thing. It looks easier to use the control stick, control pad, and buttons at the same time of an N64 controller. How much did the Jaguar cost? Like $200? Well, I ordered one for a few games, but wow, that controller is a ginormous mess!

  • I suposse they tried to make it like the old Atari consoles .... like 5200 ... only problem ... they didn't knew the "phone keys" stuff was silly ... ah well

  • the first time i held one i thought it was the most flimsey piece of crap

  • It Looks Like A Modded Phone...

  • i just noticed.that plug on the controller is the same as one on my LAPTOP.ironic.

  • watching this is like watching fat woman porn.

  • The overlay actually isnt a bad idea. I kind of like it, and it looks cool.

  • Cellphone+Broken Genesis controller=Atari Jaguar contoller

  • This is a great controller apart from the dial pad

  • @GamingWithStatoke : Yeah , imagine a tiny asian guy trying to grasp the controller....wouldn't fit in his hand.

  • Can you imagine trying to remember all those damn buttons! AGH! Thankful that most controllers have 8 buttons only now. 2 shoulder, 2 triggers, and 4 regular buttons, along with a d-pad, and two analog sticks. Way better than this phone board crap that Atari made up.

  • You had to put stickers on the phone dial button thing to know the controls to the certain game you were playing? Damn that sure sucked. So thankful for Sony and Nintendo making controllers with regular buttons with 2,4, and 8 buttons only now. Come on, a fucking phone dial on a controller to play? That's like playing cell phone games, WTF?

  • "Wow,..*gasp*... It's so big...in my hands....."

    she said

the first time she touched my new Jaguar Controller

  • WHAT IN HELL WERE THEY SMOKING

  • NIN

  • fat and fail :)

  • @neobattle2 Yeah, how many years ago? -.- God, people are stupid.

  • eww...

  • I used a Jaguar controller once. After a few minutes I thought it was the worst controller ever made up to that moment. then came the Dreamcast controller and the original X-Box controller. But still, the Jaguar controller is still king as far as bad controllers go.

  • The N64 controller is worse than all of those. The Intellivision controllers pretty shitty too.

  • i used to love my jag...

  • it looks like a telephone which has a pc-monitor-jack-like plug to me

  • thats ugly

  • jaguar sucks it doesnt have any 3d games

  • its a freaking 64 bit dude do the math.. lol

doom 4 the jaguar check that out -_-

  • I don't care what anyone says. The Jaguar was a great machine undone by mediocre games at best!

  • @togussa agreed. it was great. sony is going to go the same way, unless they get to making killer games, consistently.

  • the jaguar isnt as bad as you think after all it is a little comfy

  • This thing is an epic fail...

  • I love the slide in panel for the # pad. It's like my Intellivision and Colecovision

  • its ugly and fat.

    just like me.

ha just kidding but the controller is ugly and fat.

  • So stranger xD

  • now i get the keypad. maybe it was for level passwords.

  • No, they're just used as shortcuts in the game - just like all the other keys. That's why there are those plastic overlays for it.

  • for people who said the original xbox controller sucked: if you hated that controller look at this monstrosity of a controller! games werent even online then (except doom for the PC) so why the hell is there a keypad on the controller. ever since the atari 5200 atari's controllers were shit and made no sence. the only one that made sence after then were buttons on the lynx.

  • It would have been cool if one could use the Jaguar as a telephone with a keypad like that on a controller. Not that that would be all that useful, but it would still have been cool.

  • You realize how retarded someone would look using that thing as a cell phone?

  • Nobody had cell phones in the early ninties.

  • One of the best controllers made.I've played many modern games that would play so much better with the keypad.Turok,GTA3,GTA Vice City,Golden Eye,Castlevania SOTN-all just a few of the many games that would play better with the keypad. Those who hate on this controller, obviously never used it.

  • i think there was a reason people never used it, cause it was shit, gimme a playstation pad or a sega saturn model 2 pad over this any day of the week

  • You just proved my point...DICKFACE!

  • how? ur sayin that most modern games would benefit from it, how am i gonna play GTA3 with a phone keypad?! like i said there's a reason why ppl never used it, im not sayin u should'nt have an opinion im jus sayin...

& there's no need to be rude, makes u sound like a fanboy O.o

  • and people were saying the first xbox controller was bad

  • Oh man I was just thinking the same thing.

  • it would take 4 people to play a single game

  • All these consoles with phone keypads look so cheap to me. It's like they didn't know what to think for a good controller layout so "oh lol, let's just shove a fucking phone keypad, i guess that'll work lol"

  • im getting a cramp lookin at it 0_o

  • one word....FUBAR!

  • LOL!!

  • Jesus christ, it's horrible!

  • it would of been a decent controller if they didnt include the numeric keypad!

  • its the 64 bits gen = nintendo 64, psone sega dreamcast, its a bad contorler even for the 16 bit era

  • The Jaguar is a pretty bad 32bits wannabe even if it was advertised as 64bit, the N64 is truely 64bit, but how the ps1 (32) and the Dreamcast (128) comes here on your list?

Anyway, everybody knows above 16, it was a well sounding commercial hype. Well we can categorize the consoles by those bits if we want to, but do it well and don't blur consoles into one category which have nearly a decade difference in the launch date.

  • Nice video , I was telling my friend that I remeber this big fat controller from back in the day. And now I can show him it too.

  • Jaguar was a terrible console

  • No, it's not.

  • uhmm yes it was,Its known to be one of the worst consoles of all time.

  • Ehmm no. The failure was it's marketing, not the system. They couldn't sell them anywhere, because Nintendo dominated the market. I have a Jaguar, it's great, beats any other console from 1993. I know, cause I have every other console. Most people with an opinion about the Jaguar, never owned a Jaguar, that's what's most amazing about the whole thing. It's a great collector's item, technically ahead of it's time and never pushed to it's limits, the software could have been far more advanced.

  • yeah but Atari missed the boat again, like they did with the 7800, also the controller sucks, I don't own a jaguar but I've held the controller and I can't imagine playing a game with it for a long period of time

  • The controller is really okay. I honestly prefer it over my way too complex PS3 controller, and they're really nice to hold. But that can be very personal ofcourse. I just recently bought a second jaguar controller for multiplayer games. The only interesting thing about these controllers is that they're almost the same size as the console XD

  • No, there where more bad games than good games.

Graphics are horrible, even the SNES can handle this graphics, and it's a 16 bit system. The controller is not a phone, so the number pad sucks.

  • Well, you're half right. Most games were bad and not enough games were produced. That was the problem. The Jaguar was never pushed close to it's technical limits. But a 16 bit machine???? No. Inside you find a fat object processor of 64 bits, linked to a combined 32 bit graphics processor and 32 bit signal processor. Technically it was way ahead of it's time, but many people, like yourself, judge consoles by the way games look, but those are 2 different things. There are many awesome homebrews.

  • I know that the Jaguar is not a 16 bit machine. I was saying that the SNES IS A 16 bit machine and had better games. Also the Jaguar's number pad sucks, who needs that.

  • Well, you need it in most games actually XD It's really not so bad, but again, that's personal.

  • the Snes had extension chips in some of it's games to make it act like a 32 bit machine (star fox would be the most famous)

  • why cant i see the video

seen it yesterday! lets chat nm

  • just by looking at jaguar stuff makes me puke, jaguar is one of the worst consoles ever and so is virtual boy, everything is black and red

  • lol you can hit someone with that...

  • I don't know who in god's name ever was able to convince someone that an overlay area on a controller was EVER a good idea.

  • i see we have a wiseass here oh great y dont u shut the fuck up

  • A numeric keypad? Games are supposed to be fun not for doing math!

  • Hence the slogan `Do the Math`!

  • Didn't you see the overlay in demonstration?

  • I did, It still looks like a calculator to me though lol

  • once again Atari... WHATS WITH THE EFFING NUMERIC BUTTONS ON A VIDEO GAME SYSTEM?! O.o

  • The only complaint I have is how do you hold the controller, didn't really show us how or attempt it.

  • i had one of these and i found the pad . well the plug for the pad it has pins in the and they bend easy and the best game i like to play on was wolfinstin with the big bossis with mini guns in there body qand dogs jumping out at you

  • Ok. The original Playstation was a 32 bit console. How the f#@k can this be 64 bit??? It looks like total crap to me...

  • My god, Atari Jaguar was a hideous POS.

64-bits? Hey Atari, do the math! More like 32 weak ass bits!

  • I didn't know the Jaguar used a number pad and sheet overlay. Why so many buttons? And the concept for a sheet overlay was already dated even back in '93/94.

  • i actually liked the controller, it was not really bad. It was very fit for games like Doom and Wolfenstein 3D, hot swap weapons real fast.

  • that and its really comfortable to hold lol

  • sorry to ask this stupid question, but does the Atari Jaguar console(and controller) say "made in japan" on it?

  • Caressing.. touching..

    ..it's almost sexual..

  • Didn't Atari lean there lesson about bad controllers after the 5200

  • I summon the angry videogame nerd!!

  • this was not a so bad controller in fact..

  • what he hell is this guy saying??

    1996-??? 97?? 98? Man , it was Dreamcast time !

Jag is 93! and... Saturn WAS a 32BIT competitor...

it s not .." That sega... what s the name?..Ahh yeah the .. Saturn?!"

    Man..kids this day

  • i believe dreamcast came out in 99

  • oh man... i m sorry !!

I m sorry , to the creator of the video...

my comment was pointed towards another video i was watching ( it was windowed on my desktop)

i accidentally posted it on this one... which is really good :\

    i m sorry really..

(anyway dreamcast came out in 98, japan)

  • 9.9.99 in america.

    98 in japan.

  • it did

  • The Jaguar controller was FINE for large hands - but, hitting the small keypad buttons was a chore.

This thing is so like the legacy Atari shit.

  • now the atari jaguar controller dit had a 4 directional button on it,well they could also release next to it, a controller with a 3d stick on it for 3d games.

i wonder why the hell the,re numbers on it like the 5200 controller, maybe for paswords or linking up consoles???

  • I got long fingers... maybe I'd be able to hold this thing comfortably?

I'm curious to try this beast out now.

  • Easily, the controller is not

as hard to handle as you would

    think.

Also, Jaguar has a pro controller,

3 more buttons plus 2 shoulder buttons.

plus fits the hand a bit better.

  • atari thought they could capture the amercian gaers from thier japanese cosoles. BAD MOVE! only people who didn't have brains would do that.

  • Microsoft?

  • @justiceiscoming ATARI,,, Says in the title, dumb ass

  • @ALEXANDERPLAYER I was responding to a comment asking if a company had ever created such a horrible controller design before, dumbass.

  • @justiceiscoming Well your ignorance obviously reflects your age.But for your knowledge there have been a lot worse (amazingly) .And though bulky by today's standards, this was actually an innovative idea for back then as they did try to do something new, something less mainstream. So you should give Atair some credit for trying something different As for the micro-soft comment, true PS did set the standards for the controllers of today, but micro-soft improved it. I prefer my 360 to my ps3 anyday!

  • the layer thing is a good idea

  • u need at least 3 hands to play with that thing

  • Haha. I like your humor. That's good one!

  • thats going take some time to master that with out looking at the controller to play

  • holy shit!

  • atari put 2 many buttons on the atari 5200 controller as well.

  • seems the atari dont learnt the lesson of the old 5200 marketing

  • Is that a answering machine???

  • what a piece of shit!

  • right you are...

  • shit

  • god no!!!

  • PSN: SamuraiBubba

This controller is an abortion. In fact, the only thing more unholy than this...thing... is Bill and Hilary's marriage lol (Waits to get flamed lol)

  • Eh?

  • frick!

how are you able to play rayman with THAT?!?

  • Let's see. To play Rayman, you need a d-pad and 2 buttons... The Jag has a d-pad and TONS of buttons... ;)

  • PSN:SamuraiBubba

You think this is bad, I saw another version that had 3 more face buttons and shoulder buttons as well lol

  • Atari JaguarPhone.

Get 1 month free dial-up connection and call with the ugly Atari Jaguar Controller!

  • Alien vrs preditor was Great on this console....AND DOOM !!

  • LoL is that the console or the Controller?? Cuase there Both very Big o.O

  • i suppose the overlay thing was a nice idea, but still i dont really like it

  • you could murder somebody with that, Man your like... The king of the Atari Jaguar huh? lol

  • It's actually not heavy at all as it's thin plastic and hollow...

  • Parece um telefone que merda de controle!!!

  • lol what is that a fucking phone

  • That thing is huge! But the cover is a good idea!

  • yay. lets design a crapy controller so the console wont sell!!

  • I'm surprised atari didn't get sued for false advertisment. 64 bit that wasn't no 64bit.

  • yeah. there where two separate 32-bit chips that didn't count as 64-bit. but anyway the game sucks too, like ataricarts and many others

  • wow

  • ockward looking controller. It dosent look like you can play any game comfortably.

  • The controller was huge, but I liked the button overlay. The games looked like crap, and the only one I really liked was the original Doom. But it was such a crappy system, that the Doom game had no music. The 32x Sega had a better version of Doom than the Jaguar. Also, on a humorous note, all the left over system casings are now dental teeth cleaning cases. Look it up.

  • this is defenetly not 64 bit.... 64 bit bullshit it looks like a 16 bit machine when u play it...

i think Atari sucked with the graphics htey think there still in the 80s

  • In my opinion, the idea of that button cover is excellent, you can select many options very quickly... I am agree that the Jaguar was a complete failure, but if you love the videogames, you should feel respect for all kind of try or ideas ;D

In my opinion this joypad is ugly, but its difference is interesting.

  • Jauguar is not a 64 bit machine! Most of the games do not even look better then a Sega Genesis game. As a matter of fact alot of Sega Genesis games look better!

  • Not as better as some Super NES games...SNES graphics are far more superior than the Genesis.

  • yeah!!!

  • 64-bit and no single type of shoulder buttons?

  • sorry i meant that it has grips and has no shoulder buttons?

    ouch.

that has to be hard to hold.

  • holy shit that thing is huge

  • The Jaguar controller's big. Yeah yeah yeah. It's not small. No no no.

  • el control sin la etiqueta parece un telefono. podria llamar al 0-800-BASURA con eso. y el tipo aprieta los botoncitos no se para que carajo si no esta conectado ajajaj

  • that thing is total GAR-BITCH i got that from the avgn

  • Atari sux with controllers look at the 5200 controller it's a nice design yes, but it breaks so easily. this is one of the reasons ATARI is done with consoles

  • Incredibly ridiculous!!! I think Atary forgot they had to make a controller for the console when they were already done with it so the controller was just like a last minute thing..."let's add all these buttons to make it look cool, oh and make it really big so it looks "different" to the other console's controllers"...it looks incredibly ugly and are those phone buttons on the bottom? also, you didn't need 15 buttons or more for 16/32 bit games

  • the controller may of been big, but it was still nice. It was really nice for old FPS games, switch a weapon by pressing a button, go to any weapon u want.

  • True. but for modern fps games you need analog sticks.

  • Not if everything is to your left and right and not above you.

  • I'd rather own a 3D0 than a Jaguar, but I'd probably not be willing to cough up $700.

  • Fuck 3DO

  • It had some arcade perfect ports, but it isn't worth $700.

  • Once again. Fuck 3D0

  • It looks like a big giant cell phone from the late 80's. LOL.

  • maybe ugly but it felt good in your hands

  • FUCK THATS BIG AND WEIRD

  • beautiful 8*(

  • rolf get a 360

  • Wow...that thing would make the original Xbox controller run and hide. Carpal Tunnel anyone?

  • what's this? .........old telephone?

  • hmm those extra buttons couldve been used for cheat codes? that wouldve been a good idea. The controllers aint as big as people claim them to be..

  • To me the Jag controller is one of the best. It's one of those you can hold normally without trying to squezze as much fingers around it as possible to get a bloody grip. The key pad was very good and using the overlays was no problem. Once you know the functions of the keys for a game you could leave it off anyhow.

  • WHAT THE HELL IS THIS!?!

the sega genesis 6 button is

better than that big ass thing!

  • The D Pad was not very good, the rest was vvery nice. With this controller could have been done so much cool games.

    Strategie, Simulation ...

Does somebody know how Sensible Soccer used the buttons?

  • That controller should have been in some horror movie or something. It just looks bigger and bigger... It will haunt your nightmares!

  • The Atari Jaguar... Man, it had so many possibilities. Mostly, it's hardware capabilities were untapped.

If they had been tapped, I'm guessing Atari would still make consoles today.

Of course it wouldn't have stood against the PS1, but it may have beaten the N64 and the SS.

  • Wow, you have to change different cards on the number pad to play a certain game? Genius...... No wonder gamers complain about the controls on Jaguar games. This makes me happy I had a good old N64 and a PS1 back in the day. Not a bad demonstration though, I'm easily able to see the awkwardness that phone-controller has.

  • The cards were cool for starters, once you know the game you dont use the cards. Besides, some overlays just looked very good. And to me the "fone controller" was really handy for games with lots of options.

  • I believe the Intelevision did that too.

  • this guy should make sex education movies LOL!! cool vid,I never seen one up close like that, thanks for the education LOL

  • Now there's an idea! Any takers?? LOL!!!! Glad you enjoyed the vid ;=D

  • Genial!!... me encanta esta consola...
